Liners are hit and miss. Standard or Modified they can fail. With or Without a block mod they can fail. I was running 300+ bhp without the Block Mod and mine was fine. It is literally a lottery whether or not they fail. As for Shafts it all depends on your driving style and how hard you want to launch the car. Again mine was tracked and driven hard but never "launched" and never had an issue with them. I loved the ST and would have another in a heartbeat if I had the room

I've had mine for a year and I use mine as a daily and it's currently on 95k, still pulling strong, only has a group A induction kit and dreamscience cat back and managed to beat a standard ST.

If your going for the ST3, bear in mind that it is only a 4 seater not a 5.

Another thing to look out for is the oil filter housing, the diaphragm can split causing a weird UFO sound but when this happens it's strongly recommended NOT to drive the car as you can blow the cam seals.

As has been said, the block mod is a lottery, I'm going to go for it at some point mainly because it's a little more cost than a cambelt change but you also get other internal seals and gaskets replaced.

No ST with the block mod has cracked a liner.

I know they like a drink. The ones we get in at work seem to average between 17 and 25 mpg.

I had mine for 4 years and I loved it, it was running 380 odd when I sold it, they can be driven hard but at the same time are a joy on the motorway just cruising

As for the liners, its a lottery, a tuner I use ha one at the moment that is full mountune that has split a liner and there have been standard cars that have slit liners, the blockmod can help a split liner but ultimately when they've gone its a new block, the symptoms eventually reappear.

My advice is check the engine when its stone cold, your looking for a lumpy idle and lots of white smoke that clears within a few minutes and it will use lots of water and pressurize the header tank over night
