Default Zvh to zt swap

Hey guys,

Ive always been happy with zvh engines due to the more "fitting" look in the bay and i always liked the sound of them,,blah blah blah,
BUT

Now im swaying, i cant trust the cvh head on my engine now due to someones "attempt" at fitting an adaptor plate witch involved drilling into water jacket and then using copius amounts of sealant to try stop it leaking,

So could take head off get sent away and poss fixed, but if im going to be sensible it seems wiser to listen to what pretty much everyone on here says and go zetec turbo,

I have just bought a 2.0 blacktop head.
My engine block is a cgi block which i belive is same as blacktop in design

Main things i need to know is:
What parts will i need, like which headgasket, cambelt tensioner just a blacktop one?
Best inlet manifold for 400+
Is it best to use 1.8 cams in 2.0 head??
Which valve springs are best?

Sorry for life story!!
Going to start stripping existing engine down this weekend and will start a build thread,

Cheers
Scott

Standard head head gasket is fine ,standard head and cams will pis that power, cat cams valve springs .oil pump is a lottery at anything over 350hp. Manifolds are more of a personal choice but there's not a lot of choice anyway

Ill get cat cams springs ordered up then, yea i know about pump but cant afford full on dry sump or external oil pump yet, it will happen though,

Exhaust manifold should be upto the job, it was one that will pedley had made for his focus time attack car but he changed plans i beleive, inlet i was hoping you could sort out!

As in new inlet manifold pipe work changing water pump and water pipes to it, possibly extending wiring just to get what power you already have. Would it not be easier to get another cvh head ported and swop your cam and things over?

Yes true, biggest hassle will be new inlet, as for pipework thats easy sorted same with water pipes/pumps, admit i overlooked water pump, didnt know id need to change, yes it would be easier to swap to new cvh head, but would still be waiting to rip a rocker out/ OR spend a lump of cash on roller rockers,

Just seems like zt is a better option for me with all my supporting mods i have, should make some cash back selling sitech manifold, possibly the head if it can be repaired,

The car will drive like never before once it's full ZT, so much more response!
NMS can repair the CVH head if needed.
Depending on your target power a stock black top inlet is fine.

I take it that the lag even when in 'the zone' goes down alot?

I do find that surprising about the ZVH. I don't know how a CVH compares (maybe the same or worse due to lack of capacity?) but I know my old 944 has less lag when giving it the beans than my RST (i.e 4.5-5k gearchanges and putting my foot down). OTOH the 944 was mildly modded and running less boost (15PSi vs 20PSi of my RST) but that was still on an 8V head and with the larger turbo of the two fitted (a KKK 26/8).

The Zetec head flows much better than a CVH so response is increased everywhere... the faster you can get the exhaust gassed to the turbo the faster it will spool.
