hi guys, got a friend who has found a golf mk4 turbo for a mk2 conversion, only problem it has no logbook or green slip, its also a cat c, is it just a thing of filing in a form, sending it to the dvla to get the logbook? or is there more to it?
As said. Who cares if you just want the engine. Rip it out then scrap the golf and fill in the scrapped form.
Take pictures of the golf with he receipt to show it wasn't a stolen car
Good luck with the conversion. It's a lot of work and more parts needed than you can imagine.
I've a boggo standard 92 plate 3door 16v. That I'm going to get that done to. It's easier to take it to someone that does them all the time. They do. Drive in drive out for 2k

Not 100% true
I had a bike which was cat c .
I sent off for the log book which I got
6 months later the police contacted me to do the Vic test which was free
I am lead to understand that if I requested for the Vic test first then I would have to pay.
And they didn't really do much on the test
Other than wave a machine around looking for tags/chips
Then moaned that it had a day light mot ( no lights ) lol

I'll correct it then
Dvla should not send out a V5 for a Cat C vehicle until Vosa have done the VIC check and notified them of a satisfactory outcome.
If DVLA did send one out it was a mistake, which they then discovered, hence the contact from the Police.
It's irrelevant after October, the VIC checks will no longer happen but the Insurance companies will still be applying the CAT markers.
