Default fault changed, see post 10, what controls revcounter?

put foot to the floor on accelerater and all is well until just after 3000rpm , then as the turbo comes on boost. the revcounter goes off the clock instantly!

and if so whats the cost of an ap 6 paddle replacement clutch 4x4 as thats whats currently fitted.

Dont know the cost of a new AP clutch but that definately sounds like a slipping clutch to me.

I got a helix from Matt Lewis. He said AP are having issues with rivets.
I had a slipping clutch which turned out to be cable sticking new cable job sorted.

Check your cable.

Well changed to cable and that didnt help, but after some driving, im sure its not the clutch.

What controls the revounter signal?

As allthough when you put your foot down and it comes on boost the engine revs arnt rising anywhere near what the rev counter is saying?

As was at about 60 in 5th, 2000ish rpm, foot to the floor, few seconds later the revs are at 6000+ but no real increase in speed or engine noise.

Pretty sure the earlier ones sense current flow off the coil and the later have a wire (white?) off the coil.

With the Cossie looms getting old I would check the earths and then the connectors.

If you go for a Paddle clutch and stronger clutch cover then convert to Hydraulic whilst the box is out. It is not hard to do.

How are your connectors on the bulkhead in the engine bay, these are usually the primary cause of this, lots of people replace the loom or cut out the plugs and just solder the wires together which will fix it.

will have a look at the conectors and the coil, and already have an AP 6 paddle clutch fitted.

As above will have a look at them in the next few days, and give them a clean to see if anything changes, cheers

Rev counter should come from the green negative connection on the coil.

It's the same as the standard one, so just a live and a ground, black and green wires respectively.

All wires seem correct then. Just did wonder if there was something missing as a few spare terminals.

I pulled all the loom connecter plugs apart today. inspected and cleaned, didn't see anything suspect. But didn't have time to go out for a test drive.

Well is all good now, used it for the last few days without any issue? so not sure if just pulling all the multiplugs apart and giving them a clean was the issue, but pulling well now through the gears
