Breakdown cover - who to use for our every day car and shop delivery van
Hi
Me and my other half need to get breakdown cover to cover us on our personal daily cars (not my fiesta cossie) but would rather be covered personally as people rather than named vehicles but need the cover to apply to her own van which is also her business use vehicle as it is used as her daily drive and to deliver flowers for her own florist shop
Who do you guys thinks is best and who do you recommend through experience etc
We want
basic cover
home start
and recovery to location anywhere in uk of our choice
Thanks
Marc

Not the RAC after my recent experience.
3 hours to send a guy out who was with me for a matter of seconds before telling me it needed recovery, something I'd explained in detail when I first rang. 3 further hours for a recovery truck who's driver told me modified cars should be illegal and to add final insult applied the hanbrake so hard it was then jammed on. Complained to them and their investigation was to ask the driver, who said he didn't and that was sufficient for them to wash their hands of the whole thing. Massive bunch of useless arseholes, never again will they see a penny of my cash.

Im an AA patrol,
the RAC wont cover commercials without extra charges from what i have been lead to believe.
the AA do cover them either on a vehicle based policy which covers the vehicle irrelevant to driver or personal cover which covers the person regardless of vehicle upto 3.5tonnes.
i will be the first to admit that both companies have their failings and that yes there are times that the service isnt acceptable, however the people in the van/trucks arent to blame, we are at the mercy of our call centres to do a decent job. if poor service is received take it up immediately with the company concerned, they dont like the bad news stories!
regardless of company the patrols in the vans are usually committed to providing the best service possible in all circumstances, if you are to look via my AA membership page feel free to get a non commital quote!

mods, if im doing anything wrong please feel free to move or delete.
cheers

ps. if business customer you could get a fleet quote if your needs require it. the information can be found via link above from memory.

I have AA cover i have a 2006 Jumbo transit high roof and they are happy to cover that, although i think there is a limit on the length of the vehicle, if you're delivering flowers etc though then i expect you have a smaller vehicle.
Also as said further up I changed from the RAC to the AA as the RAC would not cover my work vehicle.

I was going to recommend the rac but if they don't cover commercials then guess they are no good. You will hear good bits and bad bits about every breakdown company. The RAC get bonuses if they fix a car at the side of the road rather than towing.
They got my mrs out of trouble a few years ago when her wheel bearing collapsed with no warning, totally locking the rear wheel up! He took my wife to buy a new bearing, then took her on to her destination. He then went back to the car, took the hub off, went back to their workshop and pressed the new bearing in. Got the car back together, went and picked my wife up, dropped her back to her car then followed her back to her destination to make sure she was happy. Took him about 4 hours.
Top service IMO!

I've always been an AA man, they have got me out of several situations over the years.
My other half has green flag through her insurance but they wouldn't touch the cossie as too old. Only used them once but was a great service too.
Never had any dealings with RAC.

im an rac patrol and commercials are covered but over 18ft it would be on our rac commercial assistance.under that your are covered on your personal membership.we have two types of cover, personal and vehicle.personal cover means your the member and will attend any car you are driving.vehicle based cover is that we come out to the vehicle with anyone driving.
id recommend personal if you drive multiple vehicles
id recommend personal if you drive multiple vehicles
