Default Aghhhhh time wasters.

What's with the amount of time wasters these days. Can't remember it being so bad.
All I get is can you send me a pic of this and that and this and then turn round and offer me 1-1.5k less than the asking price.
I have been on the phone to several people for over 20 mins talking to them and them to say will you take such and such a price.
Why phobe people if you don't have the money that the item is advertised for.
The amount of dealers calling me aswell is crazy but they all want it for fook all so they can put a big mark up on it.
I might just keep it now as I can't be bothered with people wasting my time anymore.
How can someone ask you what you will take if they haven't seen it. I would never dream of doing that.
Come see the thing and then agree a price not the other way about. Fucking tits.

How does the other person seeing it affect what you will sell it for?

I'd sooner sift through the people that can't afford it before taking the time to wait for them to show up, look round it etc.

Stop moaning lol.

Its not a for sale add as I'm not mentioning what im selling could be a horse for all you know. I will not be mentioning anything about the item.
I know what want for it but how can some one say I think it's worth this if they have never seen it.

I would always put in a low offer, if you take it I have got a bargain....surely a scot would get that? I bought a car that was up for £15k for £10k in the past by just asking "what is the lowest you will take for a deal now?" I wasn't insulting, I had money and he wanted it, he had a car to sell and I wanted it.

One of my friends has made a lot of money just phoning sellers and putting in low but fair bids and then selling on for profit 3-6 months later, he does it on rolexes as well as super cars.

Be prepared for people to ask questions like that, even serious buyers will and it's hard to distinguish between the two.
All you can do is answer questions and not let on you would take any lower until said item is viewed and a price agreed.
End of last year I got an impreza classic turbo PPP, nice original car with fsh for £300, you don't ask you don't get.

Suppose that's true it's just frustrating when you spend a lot of time sending stuff talking to people for them to take the piss.
Must just be me if I see something advertised for a certain price I think maybe I could get £300 of it.
I must have been doing it wrong for years.

If the price you have put it up for is what you want then simply put "NO OFFERS" did this with my 16i when I sold it and wouldn't budge even a tenner on the price. People will pay the price if they want the car that much

Having the same issue mate, sold my Scirocco the other month and had endless low ball offers (£13k and offering £8k WTF!) why call about a car if you have no intention of offering anywhere the asking price.

Genuine couple came round and bought it though for £12,700.

Now got the misses A1 up for sale and had two calls, one was a lad offering £8,500 over and over on a car up at £10,500 - we buy any car offering £9,500 so £8,500 was a joke.

Then had someone have someone come and inspect it, turned out to be 'The Car Buying Service' and to be fair, they offered £9,800 which was great, but then couldn't get to them in the week and didn't want to hand the car over at a weekend and not get paid until the Monday and cant get to them for a couple of weeks and they wont hold their price.

Other than that than, no interest in 2 weeks!! It's well priced, clear pics, clear description so I am stumped.

That's what I'm on about mate people are just way off the mark when making offers.
I don't mind taking time for serious buyers. But I'm on about people with no intentions of buying and dealers saying I can't pay that there's no profit in it for me well that's not my problem. It's advertised for a price and in my mind offers of 1-1.5k even 2k lower than the asking price is just stupid.

Anything, no matter what it is, is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it.

If a book/someone/something says that an item is worth 10k but everybody only offers 5k then who is in the wrong? The buyer over-valuing their goods, or all the sellers offering under the 'perceived' value.

At the end of the day it's a business deal, it's not personal!

Well in my mind if they want to pay a certain price then go buy one advertised at that price not one that you can't afford to buy.
Don't waste people's time with stupid offers. Go buy one that you have got the money for.
End of.

So if you put your car up for say 5k and I offered you 3 k because that's all I thought it was worth you would say ok mate no probs I will sell it to you because you say it's worth 3 k.

Not if I told myself I wanted more than 3k for it. But you cannot blame a potential buyer for trying to do a deal that works for them. Everybody EXPECTS to get some money off the asking price and that's why every seller adds a bit more to their asking price over what they want/expect for it, there's always room for some negotiation.

But if EVERYBODY who saw it only offered me 3k for my 5k car I would eventually question whether the car was actually worth what I thought it was worth.

For the record I have no idea what you're selling so cannot comment on whether your advert, price and reactions are right or wrong.

I can tell you they are just bloody dreamers you could buy a pretty ropey one with twice the miles on it for the price they offer me.
I can assure you Dave it is worth what I'm asking and has been confirmed by a few people in the no. no amount of low ball offers will ever make me question it's true value.

Hate selling cars, it always attracts cunts.

I was selling my last car, it was up for £5500 and I was willing to take £5000, which was fair with the market. I had several people ring me asking the lowest I would take. I would tell them £5000. They would then say "Would you take £3500/4000/4500?"

I eventually sold the car for £5000 to a really nice guy who was very genuine, so they are out there. But the worst call was when I had taken a deposit on the car and the guy was coming to pick it up the next day. I had someone ring me about the car, I told him it was sold, he asked for how much, I told him £5000 and it was getting picked up the next day. He then said "What if I came tonight and gave you £4500?" I literally laughed for about 20 seconds, then said "Well how is that going to help anything?"

Selling cars is the pits, you have to put up with so many gormless morons who only want to get the car for next to nothing only to sell on again. Usually they expect you to be skint and in desperate need for the cash. I'd rather push mine off a cliff and get £250 off you've been framed rather than line someone else 's pockets. Saying that, I am a bit of a car hoarder.....

At the moment there are loads of scams about, typical ones are people sending you a text or e-mail either offering a much lower price without having seen your car or offering more than you are asking and saying they will send their agent to pick it up as its a suprise gift for their wife or girlfriend. I recently sold my Daughters car and it was a nightmare sifting through the scammers to find a genuine buyer.

I must be really lucky. I never really have any problems selling cars.

Escort van, mentioned it in the pub sold it to the lad the next day.

Xr3i put it on ebay, sold within 2 days no messers even got £100 extra then what it was advertised for as the lad wanted it that bad :/

Sold me mums car, sale sign in the window, sold within 2 hours

Mrs old fiesta did the same, although did get aggro after selling it.

Rs2000 van I had sold within hours of putting it on ebay, lad collected next day and so on and so on!

Never sold anything over 2k so that could be a big part of the reason why though!

Sold a few cars over the years mostly been hassle free, unless they was sub £500 seemed to get the most with them and the most aggro (not much but someone phoning up tow week later a bulb has blown sort of thing) or they expect it to have a full histery and invoices from new

I understand where you come from. Last year I had some lad msg out the blue wanting to buy my FRST, I own 3 cars so didn't really mind letting it go. I have no problem with it sittting where it is, its a damn good car and he was desperate for it. I said £4,000 and you can have it. Thinking it was doing him a favour as I dont need money or ned it gone. The cock asked questions upon questions forth an back for 30mins+ then offered £3,000.

I told the idiot £4,000 as i dont need to sell it. I told him this first time round. HE asked more questions and wanted me to take pics under the car. I told him im busy for a couple of weeks working many hours.

The knobber turnt round and said would you take £3,500. I told said co(k, £4,000 no offers. only for him to say well i want to do this and that to it. In the end i told the w@nker i aint selling it to him.

About 2 months later he got his mate to msg me about buying it for himself I did some research and found the knobber got his friend to pose as a buyer for him.

Sadly part of selling cars. Its painful, and I tend to break cras then scrap the shell etc that i dont need. saves the hassle.

Just re-read my post, Pretty awful spelling/grammar. You can tell I'm on a rant when my posts look like that!

I've scrapped 2 cars, and sold a MK4 1.3L 5DR Escort to my brother for £100 to avoid selling them.

I sold A Mazda Eunos with ease. Owned it for 2 months bought for £2,000 low miles, owners imported etc. Sold it for £1,300 for first viewer as I couldnt be arsed selling it let alone sitting on it.

I also sold my Evo for £3,450 to a friends, friend after putting up with the usual co(ks on eBay and other selling webpages.

The cars i scrapped was a tidy Megané 1.6 RT I took anything good off it and took a hammer to nearly every panel so the scrapyard wouldn't sell it on to live.

The car after that I scrapped a very very tidy MK4 D reg low mileage XR3i Cabriolet.
New roof, new respray costing £2,500 with the S1 kit moulded into the cars panels. Quite a few upgrades and new parts. I did 'sell' it before hand mind. But the buyer messed me around so kept his £100 deposit. Took a huge loss but its only money.

I also bought a BMW from a dealer as a run around while sorting my RS out. I got the car sorted and told the dealer after having the car for a full year give me £100 and you can have it back.
