If a book/someone/something says that an item is worth 10k but everybody only offers 5k then who is in the wrong? The buyer over-valuing their goods, or all the sellers offering under the 'perceived' value.

At the end of the day it's a business deal, it's not personal!
So if you put your car up for say 5k and I offered you 3 k because that's all I thought it was worth you would say ok mate no probs I will sell it to you because you say it's worth 3 k.
