Anything, no matter what it is, is only worth what people are prepared to pay for it.

If a book/someone/something says that an item is worth 10k but everybody only offers 5k then who is in the wrong? The buyer over-valuing their goods, or all the sellers offering under the 'perceived' value.

At the end of the day it's a business deal, it's not personal!
