I'm trying to get my head around the story.
The showroom storing it decided to drop it off at a garage? Then it was taken from the garage, then seen at a car show? with some woman posting pictures of it on facebook saying its her new car??
Very confusing.

I thought this when reading some posts on facebook, I get the feeling the full story wasn't divulged.
saw this earlier, something seems weird about it all, as was in a showroom for winter, then went to some chips away place then took to a show or something, nothing really adds up.

God knows mate, who was the woman on FB saying it's her new toy, tagged with the two blokes? Did they work at where the car was stored? Can't see how the came to be driving it?
But, at the end of the day, it's back in the rightful owners possession, which, given the personal value, is the most important thing!

From what I understand, the car was stored at the garage. The garage then innocently asked someone they knew to do some work on it, I think dent removal, without consent from the owners. The man that was entrusted by the garage then insured himself on the car along with his girlfriend and started driving it around.
Seems a breach of trust from the garage more than anything.

That's I've I've now read it. But did the (legal) owners not have it insured? i.e., if it was, i didn't think it could be insured "twice"? The important bit is that it's back with its rightful owner!!
Just goes to show how you think you can trust people to look after your stuff and this sort of thing happens? Especially with something like this car, given the sentimental value it comes with!

Unfortunately, this stuff does happen. Happened with me with I dropped the RST off to have the front end aligned years back. Heard afterwards that the bloke who did it took it for a "test drive" afterwards and was saying to his mate (who knew me) that the car "ran like a bag of shit" considering the car wasn't mapped or properly ran in I'm surprised it didn't melt. Tosser.
This happened to my mate, he took his rst in to have an mot and service done and the bloke was thrashing it round the ind est! What the mechanic didn't realize is my mates brother in law worked in a office just round the corner and filmed the whole lot on his phone. So when the garage owner/mechanic denied it he showed them the video
got the bill for free minus cost of parts! Took my 309 gti to an mot before I had my mot licence and the young nipper there smashed it up into another one of there customers cars!!!! Tossers
