Default Goodridge hose fittings

Seen these fitted to loads of cars on here so hopefully someone can help me .

I'm fitting air injectors into my S1 and I want to make braided hoses with Goodridge style fittings . As I've never fitted these before I'm unsure on the sizes fittings I need .

Can anyone tell me how to work out whether it be AN6 or AN8 etc ?

I'd ideally like some 90 degree fittings to drop the hose down toward the front of the car

So I'm guessing I need to remove these fittings that are already in the injector body's and get some more ?

Is the below pic what I need to screw into the body's to replace the fittings I have and then screw a 90 degree fitting to it ?

Thanks

take the fitting out of the injector body and get the size measured,i doubt the fitting in the 3dr pic will fit,the hose in the first pic look like -6 in size,i don't think they need to be that large, maybe -4 would be better.

torqus on ebay will have an adaptor to suit but youll have to find out what size is in the injector body first, any hydraulic place could measure it up for you.

Ok thanks . I'm not planning on buying all the bits without knowing what size I need first .

There are some cheap fittings on ebay I could buy one to try it first and see .

The aeroquip hose size for air injectors is normally -4 (also known as AN4). The air injector body will have a size of 1/4" bsp or 1/4" npt. I have a spare set of air injectors in the garage. I'll measure them tomorrow for you mate.

Keep in mind you cannot use a ptfe hose if you have to push it onto a actuator

Again fellas thanks for the help like I've said , Ive never had these type hoses before so trying to get my head around the different options .

Interesting you mentioned the actuator , I had thought about that . My thought was to use a jubilee on the actuator and compressor housing . If this is not the done thing how would I go about this as I don't think you can get the AN fittings for such pipe outlets ?

This will be ideal to finish the hose off at the actuator and compressor housing.

Those hose finishers are no good. You can't clamp ptfe hose down with jubilee clips. You either need to change the fitting on the actuator, which generally isn't possible, or use rubber pipe to push onto the actuator.
Personally I would forget about spending money on aero quip and use normal rubber push on hose.
If it's just for looks you can buy stainless over braid rubber and use those hose finishers on each end.

he's already been advised about the ptfe hose, those clamps will be fine if he uses the normal rubber/stainless hose.
but like you say aeroquip isn't need in most cases but people like the look of it.

I must admit I do like the look of the fittings . Can I still use them as already suggested aslong as I don't use ptfe hose ?

So can I use ptfe fittings with rubber hose with steel over braid ?

No, as you'd expect ptfe fittings are intended for ptfe hose.

rubber hose fittings are intended with...rubber hose.

External visual appearance for both for types of stainless overbraid hose will be the same.

No way would I ever use -6 for boost control plumbing. -4 at most.

That's a fair point which is why I wanted to clarify ,

Would this be ok for example ?

Itll be -4 you want, not -6 and definately not -8!!

The fittings you posted pics of above are not the correct fittings to screw into the bodies, you want them without the shoulder.

With regards to nylon ptfe pipe, as already said you cant clamp down on it it is only intended for the correct fittings.

Use the rubber lined braided hose, that can take -an (aeroquip) fittings or jubilees.

Dont use the hose finishers, theyre shit!!

Or just use rubber hose !

Cheap, simple and it works ( not the cheap cloth covered shite off egay though, the bloody rubber melts ! )

Gates hose etc.

I'm with Stevie on this one. I've always stayed with simple rubber hose for the boost control as it's perfectly adequate for the job. Plus as you can't use a proper AN fitting for every connection (as the actuator is push on) I didn't see the point in using expensive fittings to do half a job.

You could adapt the wastegate can for a proper fitting one way or another....but really...what's the point ? unless you absolutely must have the visual appearance of that hose.

Black is simple, cheap, reliable

Well thanks for the replies and advice . I get what you are saying about using rubber but I'm still going to go ahead with the braided set up . Its not just the air Injector hoses I want to change but they will be the first as they need piping up before mapping this spring .
