Hi guys. My s2 still wouldn't start due to fuelling issues. Had to hold metering flap down to get it going.

Then I crimped the hose from the oil separator to metering unit while my mate cranked it over and it fired up first time.

So I blocked this off and now vent to atmosphere through a mini k&n filter.

Does this mean I have basically overcome an air leak engine side so now the flap has enough vacuum to pull down and send fuel through???

Starts first time now and runs sweet!!!!

 

Anyone?? Would be great for opinions..

It is now slightly overfuelling but I think that is to be expected when changing the breather set up. I am using auto specialists oil separator.

Is it safe to say that with a decent set up now on the fuelling things should be ok?? Engine seems much happier without the vapours going through the metering unit as it is quite heavily modified so does breathe a bit harder.

 

Im a bit lost, you on a baileys system i guess on the oil separator ? so the bottom pipe to the metering head, you capped of the metering unit and put a K&N on the bottom of the separator ?

 

Often the case if there was previously a vacuum leak, I would recommend a setup yes mate.

 

Thanks Karlos. I noticed from reading other threads that you seem to favour blocking off the metering unit form the breather also.

What is your set up with the breather pipe now from the oil separator?? Do you have a catch tank ( or similar ) or do you vent straight to atmosphere??

I have merely attached a small breather filter to the end of quite a long samco oil resistant hose and let it vent down near the front anti roll bar.

Seems to be different views on catch tanks etc..and also fumes generated. Mine seems ok at the moment. Cheers

 

Yes because it eliminates fuelling issues if you have a leak, I vent to atmosphere, no engine on the planet prefers dirty oily air to fresh! lol

But the part i dont follow is, wont it kill the vacume. ie like when you remove the oil cap it kills the engine ? so by putting a K&N on the baileys tank or whatever make isnt it just like doing that ?? thanks, just intrested

 

No, because you have blocked the metering unit return off.

 

this the tank with the 2 x rocker vents at the top and one to the metering unit at the bottom ? the bottom is the one you would K&N then ?
