Default 2.1zvh no spark

Hi

Ive built and installed a 2.1zvh into my brothers s2 turbo.
Ive used the fiesta turbo loom and ecu, wired it as per the instructions on here. The only problem is i cant get a spark or any fuel to the engine.
Ive checked all connections and that ive got power to coil pack, cps etc but still it wont go.

Can anyone give me any pointers

Cheers
Mark

Its an ideal time to scrap the head and put a decent 16 valve one on it

Have you used a flywheel with the 36-1 pick up on the back and the corresponding cps?

When you say no fuel, have you checked if the injectors are pulsing when the engine is cranked?

Safest way is with a noid light.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/11PIECE-NO...item461b33402d

Plugs into the injector loom, so you can check that the injector is being told to squirt. If its not I would be looking at crank position sensor again as the coil and injectors will not do anything if the ecu is not seeing engine speed.

Do you get the fuel pump priming, is the ecu getting power?

Hi
Thanks for the replys.

There is voltage to the ecu.

I cant hear the pump prime, but looking on here it sounds like you dont here it prime with this set up, is that right?

Ive tried 3 different cps sensors but still nothing.

I will see if a mate has a noid light if not i will buy one.

Cheers

You checked the connectors on the EDIS4 unit mate,? my friend's frst had the same problem and it was a right head scratcher but when we disconnected it cleaned all the contacts and reconnected and it fired up first time

Hi
Cleaned the EDIS4 connections.
Rechecked all wiring again and still no spark or fuel.
This is turning into a right head scratcher

Always problems with these old EFi conversions I'm afraid.... My advice would be get an OFAM ECU from Boost Monkeys and then you can at least see what's working and what isn't and as someone said above now's a good time to go full ZT too!

But if your sticking with what you have then have you checked continuity between the CPS plug and the EDIS unit?
Fuel pump you can hear prime even in tank ones so if that's not priming then check, fuse, relay, voltage at plug, etc.. etc.. basically as it's all 25 years old there could be a break in a wire or a poor connection just about anywhere, you'll need to spend some hours with a multimeter going through it all

Hi

Still no joy with getting a spark.

ive been though the wiring again.
still no spark but i now have fuel to the engine.
The fuel pump seems to prime all the time though.

Has anyone done this conversion that is close to berkshire?

Cheers

Gonna throw it out there, might be a silly thing to say, but have you checked the battery terminal connections, make sure they're all clean and tightened down properly. I had tons of spark problems when trying to fire up my zetec when i didn't tighten them.

Today i stripped out the engine loom, removed all the tape to check each wire for any breaks. All seemed fine.
Reconnected every thing and rechecked, now i had a spark but still wouldnt start.
Tried a doner ecu and the engine fired up.
The problem now is it wont idle by itself after its been revved up and just cuts out.

Has anyone got any ideas

cheers
Mark
