Default Ford Puma Rocker Cover Gasket Leak

HI,

We have a 1.7 Ford Puma, and although we have changed the gasket on the rocker cover (TWICE) we cannot seem to stop a minor oil leak from the cover, it really is only a weep, and more than an annoyance than anything else, but I would still like to sort it.

Are these covers prone to warping? I have had a straight edge on it and it seems flat, but any warping could potentially cause this.

Or have i missed something?

Coat either side of the gasket in high temperature gasket sealant before fitting. That normally does it.
Doesn't help that there are only 4 screws / nuts to hold it on.

Nice once, last time i did it i filled the gasket channeling on both sides with silicone, it lasted about a week :-(

I will get some proper gasket sealant and give it another go.

Need to try and track down a bad earth on my Focus too, but thats a whole different kettle of fish, oh well at least the suns out

If mk1 Focus, check the earths that are around the air filter area, they are prone for corroding.
