Shocker??Get the car jacked up and have a look. The rear beam bush might be worn.If it is when you shake the wheel side to side you should see and feel the play.

You could also get a wheel brace on the wheel nuts,go to tighten them and you should feel the play in the bush.

Check to see if the strut top/shocker top bush isn't worn either.

Will check tomorrow, seems pretty bad for a worn rear bush had a couple of mk5s with them but possible, when the back wheel hits a bump it flings itself towards the bump aswell

Rear beam bush will be shot so go for some Polly bush and forget about them once fitted

Just been checking the car tonight and the rear nearside shock is leaking badly, would this cause my problems?

Cheers

Yeah, I've changed a few on these, quite often the dust cover fails and then the shocker shits itself.

Yeah shocks are gone, had same problems when I bought my ZS changed the shocks now its perfect. You don't even need to get inside the car to do it.
1 bolt at the bottom take the wheel archer liner out and there's 2 bolts on the top inside the arch, easy job
