I've just bought myself a really tidy 850 T5, but the bumper inserts have faded and I'd like to try bring them back up to health. If they're beyond repair I've thought of covering them in black Plastidip.

What do you guys use on faded bump strips etc?

 

Get yourself on detailing world, that's the best place to ask. Personally I use Autoglym for black plastics as I really rate it, one of their better products, and the only Autoglym offering I'd use!

I heard about some people using heat guns and all sorts, but you're obviously best to take the sensible non-permanent restore option before you get too drastic and start painting bits.

That does seem to get good reports, do the trims need anything applying before hand other than a fookin good scrub?

I would use a heat gun and then follow that with the permanent trim restorer/sealer like the Gtechniq stuff, I have a few of their products and they are really good products.

These things do work, I was advised to use ground nut oil and it was O.k on my trim as it isn't faded but with most of these things you'd be out there doing every week. I honestly think that with really faded trim the key is to get it as close to the original colour as you can, then add your product on top to keep it nice and hopefully stop it returning back to that dry powdery grey shade.
