Here's my new car, collected it yesterday and drove home in the wet so excuse the state of it..
I'm not a big fan of the wheels but the tyres are almost new so they will be staying for now...

arty shot..

this is the horrid rear wing that I've already removed

and this is the state of the hatch where it was stuck.. it's taken some of the paint off so it will need a re-spray sadly..

and the modding has already started.. Spots gone.. they were pretty scabby anyway so no great loss..

more plans afoot. paint the brake calipers, fit aero front wipers, rear wiper delete and bee sting aerial and get the hatch sorted then that's pretty much it externally..
then we are onto more power..
enjoy..

Nice little cars, I'm with you on the rear wing, I bet that looked abit silly although I'd prefer the front WITH the spots. Can't you just clean up the old ones or replace with new items? Unless of course you prefer it without them.

its great to drive.. will be better once i go down to 17" wheels.
im want to keep the upper half of the car clean looking..
no spots, no spoiler and no rear wiper... and then just have the JCW aero kit on the bottom half.. thats what im aiming for..
Once ive finished with the looks then Ill be fitting a 17% reduced diameter pully on the supercharger and a decent airbox and that should see me over 200 BHP which will liven it up a bit.. after that your looking at upgraded intercoolers, manifolds, injectors and a re-map for nearer 230..

This one is 170bhp standard (earlier ones were 163 and the 07 onward changed to a turbo but with similar power) and with just a smaller pully on the charger and a free flowing airbox you can get them over 200bhp and that's on standard ECU, injectors, exhaust and intercooler.
After that your looking at injectors, upgraded I/C, exhausts and a remap but the basic pulley and airbox is very cheap if you're handy with the spanners
Pulley and belt kit is about Ł140 and a decent airbox is around Ł100 including the new filter but there is a pikey version of the airbox that you can make DIY for about Ł40 including buying the new filter if you don't mind cutting your car around a bit.. so yeah pretty cheap.
To get the proper airbox and a tuner to fit the pulley and belt kit, dyno runs and a health check is about Ł400 all in so still pretty good value for an extra 30 odd horse power and a good chunk of torque as well..

just sold my one had it for nearly 3 years and was faultless
had it a week before it got a 17% reduced pulley, dave f airbox, iridium plugs, grs intercooler and a full stainless exhaust
mine made 212bhp with those tweeks and was a hoot to drive
if you dont fit an intercooler you will be throwing a management light every time you boot it

Dont want to go too mad with it just now but obviously the next stage would include an upgrade I/C, injectors and so on but then you're talking a bit more than the 3 to 400 pounds that this first step will cost.

I was put off these as a friend told me they have gearbox and 'charger problems? If not then I'll be looking back into it!
Drove my mums normal Cooper and was impressed, proper wheel at each corner handling.
