Default Polishing by hand tips/best product?

Want to polish the car soon as I've never done it since owning it. It's silver metallic so any recommendations on a good polish for this colour? Was thinking of AutoGlym seeing as it's a good all rounder and easy to use by hand? Or is there something at a similar price that will be better? I don't really need anything with an aggressive cut though. Just wanting to enhance the shine and give it abit of protection at the same time.

Secondly whats the best method to apply it? I've got some sponge applicators, do I just change it if it becomes caked up and then wash it out? I tried washing one under the tap, needless to say I quickly gave up is it easier just to bin it and get new ones?

Thanks in advance

You can put them in the washing machine mate with no softener , and autoglym is prob the best to use with you not doing it before , just try and keep a thin layer on the car

Auto Finesse Tripple would be a very good shout,It will clean your paintwork and its a polish that will fill any slight swirl marks, it is also a wax to protect....ALL IN ONE......

Can be applied by hand via an applicator pad...........great product

Wash/detar/clay then polish with AG Super resin polish then put some AG extra gloss protection on top, nice cheap easy way to get a decent finish.
