Default European Parking Collections (EPC)

Hi has anyone had any dealings with the above?

I bought a car in the UK and then went on a tolled road in Ireland (tried to pay the toll but was told I couldnt pay on foreign reg plates)

I received an email from the person in the UK i bought the car from (4 months after I bought it) saying that EPC have contacted him looking for payment with penalties attached.

Is this like the McDonalds parking companies where if they are ignored they cannot pursue?

Cheers Dojj i thought that but from what I can see they're based in London and get paid commission on any fines they collect successfully.

Also most examples have been dealing with UK drivers so I was wondering if there had been any personal experiences with them.

Passionford seems to be pretty au fait with legislation

Write to them back saying that you do not wish to enter into a contract.

You live in Dublin and you are asking about the tolls? They've been there for YEARS.

As far as I know, they'd have a hard time fining you if you are a UK citizen unless they catch you in Ireland again. If you are Irish and they trace you though you are screwed.

Oh no I've known about them for years and have all the cars in the family on my automatic payment account, but I bought a car in the UK and in the 2/3 weeks I was using the car before my VRT appointment I went through it 3 times. I tried to pay in a petrol station and was told I couldnt pay on foreign plates.

They've now contacted the previous UK owner of the car and he emailed me to let me know about it last week.

The previous owner sold you the car

If they pull out the dvla letter it will absolve them if any funds incurred but that will then leave you in the shit

Well I have no problem with previous owner passing my details on as if it was the other way around I'd just want shot of it.

but im wondering where would I stand with a debt collection company, if they have any real power etc.

Appreciate the responses!

Debt collection companies have zero power. Only the courts do.
