Stolen ford cosworth stories...
From the past and present over on pistonheads, makes for quite a worrying read, tho most stories are from back in the 90s

South Yorkshire police had three late K registered Sapphire Cosworth 4x4s. One was stolen out of their yard before it was converted!

Wasn't there a competition run by an alarm company and magazine where they had developed a new alarm system. They claimed a car fitted with it would be un-nickable.
They fitted it to a Sapphire Cosworth and said that anyone who could break into it and drive it away would legally be allowed to keep the car. There was a time limit of something like 15 mins(?)
A queue was formed.... the first one to attempt it won the car.....

Some mad stories.
A lad I work with used to work at a ford dealership and he said there was a car transporter that pulled up to The garage and itit had a few saff cossies on the back when they were new. By the time the truck driver went into the ford dealership to tell them the cars had arived someone pinched a cossie off the transporter.

Whilst many stories are bound to be true you can bet your life that as many are urban myths.
Local lad to me had a white Saphire and the rumour mill was that the car had been stolen. Turned out the guy had actually been disqualified and the car had been sat at his mums place.

i knew a lad in the 80s who had 4 stolen cossies in garages they checked one off the four and went to jail as they found one off them needless to say he did quite a long stretch changed his ways after doin that respectable bloke now

my story no 1 is when my 3 door was going walkies and years ago and the guys who were stealing it, when told by my old man that he was on the phone to the police was "don't worry, we'll be gone by the time they get here"
they were indeed gone, but only after they'd busted the steering lock and pushed it down the road to try and start it (they couldn't)
and story no 2 (and i'm pretty sure that the few people i told will back me up on this) is about jimmy nail's cossie, it wasn't his, he never gave a shit about it, it was just a car that had been bought up for him from the props department, and when it went missing he didn't cry about it and "go out and buy another one because he loved it and it was his own personal motor", he just shrugged his shoulders and carried on as normal
and how do i know?
because he told me
and why did he tell me?
because i asked him about it

I met a bloke a few months bk who said he ran a ford dealership when Cossies were new as he said the amount of new cosworth's that were pinched from there was crazy he said they had a big metal fence with gate and they would cut the gate for them
Another car theft story ,not ford.
Think it was 7 or 8 years ago a gang from birmingham nicked a FERRARI F40 from nec classic motor show. Then for the next few nights joyrided it around chelmsley wood( local rough estate). Check out the vid on on youtube.f40 in the mackadown.

Apparently these thieves are "disadvantaged" and "vulnerable" and driven towards crime by poor circumstances
No, they are driven towards crime due to thier lack of moral fibre and personal weakness.
We all have a choice, we see people with nice things, we can sit there like cunts and resent them and call them "rich cunts" and commit crime or we can think "well maybe if i work hard i can have nice things too".
Same as most new cars I guess, people want to pinch them!! I still say a lot of it is owners g them away to break them then claim on the insurance.
My neighbour had his 10 plate ford fiesta nicked the other night. He still has both keys.and no smashed glass on the floor, the police the the the if are now coding new Ford keys, so nothing is safe if they want it they will take it.

I kind of have a Cossie theft story. Had a 400bhp RWD Saff a few years ago, parked on my driveway in East London. Two other mates had RWD Saffs and we all lived within a couple of miles of each other. Never got any trouble and didn't think twice about leaving it on my drive, (naively) didn't think Cossies got nicked anymore and it had an alarm and Tracker.
Anyway, out a couple of nights before and driving it hard like usual the diff broke (planet gears that time, went through 4 diffs in 4 months in that car) so parked it up on the driveway as usual. Came out the next morning at 8am and bugger me if but it was gone! Couldn't believe it!
So rang the Tracker company, and then rang a couple of mates who know some more 'questionable characters' shall we say. We soon got an anonymous call back saying the car was in a lock up near to my house!
Still didn't hold much hope at this point but went round with a few mates looking in local lock up sites. About to leave the third one we tried and lo and behold, my mate notices a garage that's had the locks broken off. Genuinely couldn't believe it when he lifted the door and my Cossie was behind it! Pushed it out with smiles on our faces...just as the Police turned up - the Tracker had just found it.
At this point I was pushing a stolen car out of a garage, so rightly so the Police told me to freeze. I explained I was the owner and it was my car. But did I have my wallet on me to prove that? Would you believe, no!
Luckily, being as the car was literally 1/4 mile from my house my dad popped round with the wallet and all was OK!
Best bit is that looking at the car, they had started it (and when you see how they steal a Cosworth it's scary, no wonder so many went missing. Literally, ANYONE could do it within 2 minutes with nothing but a screwdriver, a hammer and a piece of wire) but obviously tried to drive it off before realising the diff was fucked and it didn't drive!
Although clearly the car was stored in a lock up to see if it had a Tracker, but at least they didn't ever drive it
Pics when I found it:

EDIT: Might had that to Pistonheads actually as reading back I suppose it is quite relevant.

And these are the little wankers that do it in this day and age.
Shame to hear so many cossies stolen and burnt out , or never recovered.
Makes you think , do they live on in another country ?

As someone on Pistonheads said; ever thought about how many Cossie powered Escorts/Cortinas/Vauxhalls/Renaults/Minis/kit cars/just about every car there has been? That's a lot of engines to source!

that video, they were brave people throwing shit at the police while they had heir hoods up weren't they
that's the short of folk who make people say "shoot the lot of them" and i'm starting to believe that is going to be the only way to deal with this sort of behaviour, a cull or all the low life scum, but no, that would be "against their human rights" now wouldn't it

Most of them do just need to be put down.
Thing is as you say they have more rights than us as they are in "the system" therefore the system must be seen to be protecting thier human rights. No one is here to protect OUR human rights, we have to do it ourselves. Even as a victim of crime the government has shown through cuts to victim support that the rights of victims are a low priority.
We will end up like south africa or similar where the real rich people will hide away on protected estates and the rest of us cant have much nice things or have to move away to have nice things.

its not like you can put f40 parts on gumtree warren

I think the point he was making is that if you get your grubby mitts on an F40, could you REALLY not think of anything better to do with it that donut it around a city centre?
At least enjoy the car and take it for a spin on some proper roads

I have a cossie story that is to be very true:-
Back in the early 90s I was still living at home with mum & dad, I was 12 going on 13 & a guy in the next street always had either a Rs turbo in his drive or a sapphire cosworth, him & is mates would be racing them round the estate like it was a race track!!! At the time I thought this was amazing (when I think back I can still see the tire marks left on the road as he & his mate took it in turns to go round the block) this went on for days, then all go silent... As i used to have to walk past his every day to go school (yes kidds walk!!!) no sign of the cossie they were there but no cars?? Then a weekend would come & wacky races would commence??? Different cossie different colour with his mates in RST or Astra GTE all racing like mad I thought it was grate, until my mum had enough 1 night & phoned the old bill, 20min police chase round the estate later all went silent again?? Turns out he was 1 of the biggest C-nts for pinching cars & is favorite the cosworth..... God knows how many he had or wrote off Burt out?? I do know he got a rite kicking then sent down
his mum moved away & so did all the trouble!! Funny thing is though that's 1 of the reasons I fell in love with the cosworth & now own 1
& I drove through my old estate once in my cossie & who was sitting outside a pub drinking with his mates, yes the thieving C-nt I've never seen any 1 stand up so fast as slowed down in my car to have a quick perv at the 2 blonds in the beer garden
but when I saw him I gave it Beene & have never even been back to that estate since.

HOLY THREAD REVIVAL BATMAN!!!
I remember snapping a O/S/F driveshaft on my 4x4 saph and parked it up on the street outside my mums house. It was the 3rd shaft to snap and I was pissed off with replacing them at £250 a pop (I didn't know the engine mount had snapped until later). I bought a smoker to run around in until I could be arsed sorting the cossie. 4 months went by and I decided to order a shaft and engine mount and get it sold on. When they arrived, I went to grab my keys and go fix it. Could I find them anywhere? No. Checked draws, cupboards, bedrooms. I must have put them somewhere safe in case someone broke in the house for them. I looked for 2 days straight. After no joj, I decided I was going to smash the window and have it towed to my friends garage for repair......... only to see the keys sat in the ignition. In plain site of everyone walking past.
My cossie had been sat on the street, in Manchester, with the keys in the ignition for 4 months, with no disklock on and not a single person had attempted to take it. Madness.

how many people in the cossie world nowadays used to steal these cars - you would be surprised and some of these people now run businesses specialising in these cars and people still lick their ass
Go on....... Don't tell half a story
Lol they used to be dumped all over my estate I'd walk past them.on the way to school burnt out on bricks no engines I suppose that's why I never really got attached to mine and chopped it up.
