Right then I bought a non runner fiesta 1.8 td di van as the previous owner removed the ecu to map it or something and ended up breaking the ecu. So I have bought it and got another ecu key with chip and receiver ring.. I have fitted it all up but it wont fire.

The immobiliser light flashes for around 5-10 mins then has a flash sequence of 2 flashes then 3 flashes.. searching google doesn't come up with much. So what id like to know.. is the fuel pump coded to the ecu I have not yet had any diagnostics plugged in so I dont know of any more codes of yet.

Any ideas

 

Yes they are coded, or "aligned" as Ford used to describe it.

GVK might be able to give a better idea, he should reply if not PM him?

 

Yeh, these old pumps are part of the PATS system so the 'RIM' (Remote immobiliser module,part of the pump) needs pairing to the van.

You may need someone with an old Ford WDS system really, as the current diag tool we use IDS has been updated so much it has no or little support for the older stuff. I needed to sort PATS out in a W reg smiley face Transit recently and couldn't - Our WDS went up in smoke the last time it was plugged in

Bit of a pain that they take the support for older stuff, even the 95> Fiestas there's little you can do on them now with the proper dealer tool.

Obviously worth seeing if there's any mobile guys locally who have the kit to do it (mobile locksmiths etc)

 

Engine is the same as the tddi focus.. so is it going to a pain to get the coding sorted

 

Without actually plugging it in, I wouldn't know.

I do know that the proper dealer tool lacks support for older stuff, so it's hit and miss if a normal Ford dealer can do it. Unless they have the older kit.

You might find an independent with locksmith tools that can code it for you.

Still needs learning to the PATS whatever.

Im sure you can swap the elecy units over on top of the pumps we have a ford tech at my work and im sure he has done a few like this.

 

Glenn its no good to me swapping anything on the pump as only bought the ecu stuff. . So I need to code this to my pump on engine

 

Ops sorry lol. If you lived closer I would offer to try and recode it with our Ford computer. Is there not a mobile diagnostics company where you live who could look at it.
