My mrs peugout 206 convertible has been leaking!
The carpet is soaked,
What's best way to dry it out bar taking carpet out?
I've tried spill kit from work but not really having desired effect!
You can't adjust the roof at all so run some bathroom sealent around the roof see if that stop it!
But need a way of drying out carpet!
Was thinking shit load of cat litter or rice lol

Put some bowls of salt in the car. Sounds daft but leave it long enough and it will dry everything up

 

thing is the sound deadening is probably soaking as well vax wont pull the water out of that ,25kg of rice might,lol i'd bite the bullet and take the seats out . i'd fix the leak before that though

 

leave it idling with the heating on full?

 

Fix leak first then pull carpet out.

For now you can use your local petrol station's hoover to suck the water.

got working a/c on it? if so, run it in recirc, full heat, a/c on. will take forever though, but when driving it, that will help

Don't use salt as it really encourages RUST!

If you have access to a garage you could put it in the garage and leave a fan heater in it over night set on low with the windows down a fingers width! Otherwise do this on a drive!

PLEASE BE CAREFUL POSITIONING THE FAN HEATER AS CAR FIRES REALLY SUCK!

I would put it in the foot well so it can not fall over!

 

Get some of those dehumidifier bags that people use in the winter, they go on top of the dash and take the condensation out the car, put a few of them on and whack the heating on full.

 

Trust me u will be surprised how much the vax will pull out, used it on one of mine.

 

So phase 1 failed miserably
The sealent still not dry after a week,
Too damp, so took passenger seat out which was nightmare and looks like I have to strip half the car out to remove the carpet,
I've dried out excess water put rags down to catch drips and put heater in there,
But then it started to piss down so going to try again tomorrow as it says sunny all day??
Wiped off the sealent from the rubbers and try again once there bit dryer!
Knew I should have bought her a ford, wouldn't mind working on it then

Newspaper or disposable nappies are great for drawing the water out.

 

It really does work! But only tried it in a caravan and my cellar
Dries up and stops mould.
I think the amount of moisture to the amount of salt in this case would be the more probable cause of rust. Strip the car complete. Hang the carpets up in the garage.

206 ccs are renowned for their leaking roofs from factory. Not sure if there's a decent cure for them. But sealant is a decent idea.

This is the only reason the mrs didn't get one

 

Get some bath towels in there to soak it up.Sounds daft but it does work

Had that sick bug last week and wiped me out for 48hrs. But then woke up right as rain?
Went through whole family.
That why the pug is staying outside,
Don't want my 4i catching a sniffle lol

 

Don't blame you! Celica takes priority over the puma and 206. But the puma will be garaged soon.
Try those dehumidifiers from asda? £1 buy a load of them aswell as other methods?
