Default Running a methanol fuel mix! what's needed?

As titled. I have an ATL cell foam filled, aeromotive A1000 pump, facet red top lift pump, 2 litre swirl pot with braided lines etc oh and id1000cc injectors.
Do I need to change my tank foam to blue type and lines to Teflon?
Thanks in advance

25% is excessive, what are you trying to achieve ?

And yes, blue foam is methanol resistant.

I was told that between 20 and 25% would be the desired mix. The end goal is to reduce det.

That's a bit random. You could maybe be a tad more specific.
You should never have detonation regardless of fuel used

Well I'm using a Syvecs s6 ecu. I reckon I may have got my % way out. I'm not up to speed with engine tuning however the guy mapping my car swears by a meth mix for higher safer power. I was just asking the question as I was going to look into changing the lines etc. however looking at the price of blue foam I don't think I'll bother.
How's your little project coming on Tez?

its quite common with tuning evo's to run big power
it lets the mapper run sill high ignition tables without det
but its not so common on the ford scene

My friend runs water, methanol injection on his focus rs.

I will ask him what mix he runs, not sure if it's same as what you are after.

Cheers Bram. I've heard Simon at sitec runs these systems as a safe guard. I know my mate drops it straight in his tank as a fuel additive to safeguard whilst mapping and on lairy maps. My Syvecs ecu has the ability to swap maps on the fly, so he was wanting to do me a "mad" map.

I'm not sure whether your ECU will support it (speak to Ryan) but I would use an Aquamist's HFS-4 or above wi system to inject pure meth via a big spray jet (or double up). Again, if you're ECU will support it then you can wire the HFS-4 in to it and the ECU will control the injection DC and when it's turned on it will switch over to a different map and switch back over again if the fail safe triggers or it's turned off

This will act similar to running a mix in the tank (allow you to go closer to MBT without hitting det), though how long it will last will obviously be less. You do have better protection by not running a risk by guessing the methanol mix

If he's properly up to speed with Syvecs then i'm surprised he hasn't recommended using a Flex Fuel sensor to detect the methanol quantity in the fuel and adapt the map on the fly.

Meth blending is common enough, more common in the jap scene.

Cheers Will I'll put that to him when I see hi tomorrow. He's quite well versed on the Syvecs stuff. It's a Gaz at GR Performance

Mate has an Impreza on Syvecs, he had a map done for Meth mix by Duncan Graham (racedynamix) end result was 30+ hp over the reqular SUL map.

Sorry 40hp!

SiZT that sounds like a plan. That I suppose will negate the reason to change all my lines and tank foam. Lairy map chosen, up pops the meth injection and I'm safe as houses.???

Within reason, yes, although there is always a failure point somewhere. As I said, it all depends on if the ECU can do it all automatically. I know ViPecs can but I'm not sure about syvecs

We ran meth injection on the Time Attack Mini through the Aquamist system as Simon described - it worked ok until we had a pickup line in the meth tank split. The failsafe didn't kick in straight away as the flow sensor was still detecting flow, albeit with a lot of air bubbles. Sadly it happened while we were mapping on an airfield doing 8000rpm in 6th gear and we lost the edge of a valve and a piston as the meth flow dropped massively.

We decided that we couldn't trust the solution and chose to sell the hardware and reinvest the money into a better intercooler package.

So that's a vastly different reason than to prevent detonation.

Typical usage is up to around 20%, and yes the Syvecs will work with a flex fuel sensor, and the sensor some of the dealers use will recognise methanol.

But are you actually pushing the limits of pump fuel for whatever build and power goal you actually have ?
