Bloke I work with says they just look like a few bolts but when u google it there loads of different looking things

the belt just goes between the cam pulley and the inj pump,(theres a chain from crank to pump)
you need to take the rocker cover off and theres a flat platet that goes in at the back of the camshaft to time that
the pump is as mentioned just a pin(like a bolt), or just use a bolt the right size
you can do it without anything fancy, bolt i the pump and spanner etc in back of the cam
if your brave enough you can just mark the pulleys with tippex/paint etc and not bother with anything
they're very easy to change

 

I dont think there is a pin for the pump on a tdci.
i normaly just take the covers off
take the rocker cover off
put the flat plate in the back of the cam
put a tipex mark on the pump
loosen the bolt on the cam pully but dont take it all the way out
give it a gentle tap with a hammer to free it off
then loosen the tensioner and take the belt off

Fit the new belt and tensioner
tension the belt then tighten the cam pully bolt
turn it over by hand a few times and make sure its all timed up
then covers on

 

there is a bit ti pin it up just like the tddi, but the pump itself obviously doesnt need to be timed,
i do it the exact same way you said tbh

 

I do it the same as Bram.Last time I did one I used a file to lock the cam.There really easy to do

 

make sure you loosen the cam pulley prior to removing the belt and leave it loose while you tension the belt or you can put some slack in the timing chain which will shred the timing belt in a few miles

 

I am thinking of replacing the cam belt on my 59 plate Mk 2 TDCI Focus. Will it be the same? Not sure why you state "leave it loose while you tension the belt or you can put some slack in the timing chain which will shred the timing belt in a few miles". Can explain why please?

Is it a 1.8 in your mk2.

 

as above, 59 plate could be a 1.6, 1.8 or a 2.0tdci, all differant engines so totaly differant to time up

 

Thanks for the info peeps rekon I'll be having a bash at this then want to change all the tensioners rely it's developed a squeel
