Bought an Audi S5 a couple of months ago, wanted a comfy cruiser / 4x4 for the cold winter months, toyed with buying a range rover sport, Q7 but drove one of these and fell in love with the noise! Bought it bog standard from a chap in Herefordshire, fully loaded less sunroof and cruise, main priority was the Bang & Olufson stereo and MMI interfaces which it has! Lovely to drive, bit thirsty being a V8 but great fun. Feels quicker than my old S4 I had and high end speed its phenomenal, very impressed!
Bought a private plate for it the day after I bought it, then Milltek non-res exhaust for it which sounds great and just finished wrapping it in matt metallic grey and de-chroming the door surrounds, very pleased with the finish and it only took 2 days to complete (bar the door shuts which i'll do this weekend!). All that is left to do is put a slight tint on the windows. Needs a couple of front tyres in the next few k's so not sure whether to replace the wheels with something different (deep dish bbs reps maybe....)
Few pics pre and post wrap

Milltek arrived!

Tailgate done...

Side on...

hmmmm!

Bonnet done

Mid-front bumper!

Done!

Thanks Brian! I might need your expertise soon in detailing the roof (met.black!).
Miss T - took 2 days, around 14hrs (still got door shuts which will be an hour a side I imagine)

Very nice car but i really dont get wrapping, i mean you buy a black car and then wrap it in grey, why not just buy a grey car then?
just my opinion, dont take offence
But the job you've done looks spot on, like a pro

Glenn - I liked it in black as well but a bitch to keep clean! Bought this particular one for the spec not the colour (knowing I will wrap it!)!
underdog - no mate its not my job, just enjoy doing them, takes my brain away from my day to day work! Vinyl cost depends where, how much you buy from said supplier, brand, colour etc...
BM08 - no offence taken bud, couldnt find a matt grey one out there (they dont make em and kind of had this colour in my head before buying!)
Mark - its only practice mate, i'm shit at wrapping christmas pressies but give me a car i'm ok!!
Imnoteasy - cheers mate
, as you say sometimes tricky getting edges right but once you get the technique it becomes second nature - window tinting for me next!! I am indeed on signboards but find 80% of the people on there a bunch of dickheads tbh, not willing to help if you aren't full time, finding your feet etc (little do they know i've probably been going for longer than them lol!!!)
GVK - that matt brown 'can' work on some motors, not a fan either tbh but fair play to people wanting to be different!
CSM - wash, I clayed some of the car around the bottom of the wings where there was a bit of tar etc stuck on, then Isopropyl IPA before wrapping.

You've done a great job there! I love wrapping stuff, find it really therapeutic and there is an immense satisfaction in getting a job well done. Never attempted big panels though, just smaller intricate bits of trim and grilles etc.
Car looks awesome in the grey and I love S5s anyway, nice car for the winter!
I know the short answer is "it depends", but what sort of price can you wrap a normal size car for? Is it getting on for respray money, or a few hundred quid?

GVK / CSM - sorry read it wrong!! I just clean it as per a normal car!! As its got a metallic layer on top of the matt it doesn't scratch like matt black / white etc.... It shows greasy marks from dirty oiks that like touching it but normal panel wipe cleans it off!!
doctor Stavros - definitely therapeutic I find I can wrap stuff quicker with a hangover as well!!
alistairolsen - depends on the car, i'd rather wrap a range rover that say a E46 BMW, I don't do this for a living so cannot comment on prices but its cheaper than a respray I imagine.
mk22door - I wrapped them gloss black before hand as well as the lower rear valance! Going to attempt to plastidip the front grill
Jamie - the exhaust sounds wicked!!!! I'll try and get a vid over the weekend!! (i'll get the missus to drive it down the road!)

Cheers
I presume you did the rear corners (bendy round bits) of the chrome trim in seperate pieces or can your get it to pull round? Or cut perfect from a large piece?
I'm wanting to delete the chrome on my Sierra Ghia but without removing it.

I did them all in one piece mate, wastes quite a lot of vinyl but a lot nicer finish. They are riveted on and didnt fancy drilling them out so wrapped them on the car. The Sierras might be able to be removed....
