Default Is this a CVH alternator? please help!!

Its off my 1800 zetec turbo engine (current one not the new 2 litre I've built) and it needs replacing...

can anyone confirm what exactly I need to buy please?

Ive noticed CVh ones look the same but have a different pulley.

I have heard of people swapping the 6 rib one on? if so where can I get a new pulley please?

this is my alternator

Oh, Im sure its a Lucas A127 alt, but am not sure if these are all the same frame size, and they dont come with the pulley I need, off ebay at least!

It looks like a CVH with a Zetec pulley fitted (what you do when using it on a ZT) but the CVH wiring doesn't normally plug on it's bolted (at least on the Escorts, I've not looked at a Fiesta so could be that).
You just swap pulleys mate you don't need to buy a new one, just the replacement alternator.

as you say its just a A127, so will fit a cvh(as well as 100's of others)
pulleys are interchangeable, if you have any probs wiring it up just pm me and i'll talk you through it
but its 1 of the oldest simplest alternator designs out there so realy realy easy to make them work on pretty much anything

Cheers guys
I will get a new one ordered.
I was thinking of swapping the pulleys but this one is a bit manky...!!! I wanted to put a new one on so it's new looking for the new built motor I've got to go in over winter
I will see if I can source a pulley and meantime use mine.

Thanks jamie's, will do mate.

I have currently got a bolted one instead of the connector as a member on here sold me a 'new' alternator and it fitted fine and then I was driving along a day later and it got noisy...
I removed it and it turned out the pulley must have been loose or incorrectly fitted as it was loose on the shaft

Is it just a case of gripping the fan and trying to get the nut off to swap the pulleys? Is an airtool a better bet?
cheers

if you can get use of an impact gun 99% of the time the big nut will just buzz off
just watch how it comes apart as sometimes theres a spacer and spring washer in it that needs to go back on in the right order

Yes, Ive got one luckily. Will have a crack at getting it off then. Does it have a shape cutout that fits on to a matching shape on the shaft? I am trying to work out what could have caused it to come loose on the shaft?? The nut was still frickin tight as I couldn't get it off.... it was all looking spot on charging voltage wise until it started making horrid noises

looks right
if it is a genuine lucas then it will be old stock as locus ceased trading a few years ago
and the owners of eurocar parts bought it get all the old stock
there are a lot of alternative makes around claiming to be genuine lucas so watch out
but even the cheap 1's are generaly good enough anyhow tbh
