As above does anyone use the rubber cvh engine rocker cover gaskets? are they any better in terms of sealing or stopping the normal oil leaks assoociated with the cork version?

just about the same imo but they do look a little better

 

I put a rubber one on my cossie and blew it out on the first test drive.
Oil went everywhere , it's now back together with a cometic and is fine.

 

I use one on mine ,have done for years ,much better

 

much better than the cork ones as there is more depth to take up for warped rocker covers.

Rubber ones are spot on. But i still use a bit of sealent just incase. The corkones just soak up the oil and dont really seem to seal if u are using a thinner oil. But that could also be down to a wonkey rocker cover. Ive never come across a true one.

 

I use them, the CVH head sets from Gaskets for Classics all come with them, they have metal inserts to stop over tightening too (like Ford cork gaskets), but do need two little 'tabs' trimming off or they foul the rocker cover and coil pack bracket (if EFI).

 

Binned my rubber one, genuine Ford and it never sealed right. Went back to cork

 

I put a payen one on mine and did not leak in the 5 years it was on.

 

I found the rubber ones shite on standard cvh covers. Always leaked! (and yes tried payen/ford etc)
Always stuck to cork.

However with the rs1600i rocker cover i now use, the rubber seals fine. But then theres alot more meat on the 1600i cover base so probably just doesnt warp like the tin covers
