Default Any tips please

Hi all i have a sierra sapphire 4x4 cos and my problem is a bit embarrassing im quite a short person and my passenger mirror does not adjust enough to give me a propper view towards the rear of the car. So i managed to find some brand new manual adjusting door mirrors as opposed to the electric ones i have and the problem is still there but not as bad.

Any ideas that might help me?

sit on a cushion? maybe one or two cushions from a garden chair might do the trick?
conversely, i have similar problems cos i'm 6' 7" so my seat doesn't go far enough back and down to give me a comfortable driving position in my 3dr

Oh cheers cosworthkev that's a mint idea but here's the mong moment what do you mean?

do you mean remove the mirror via the access hole under the wing mirror casing? then peel the glass away from the sticky pad and space it out?

no if you pull the mirror in any direction it will move leaving a gap between the mirror and the pedastall or base which fits to the door, place a wedge inbetween you will only need to move the mirror a small amount to gain the angle you need and the gap will hardly be noticable.

Ideally you want to remove the glass and separate it from the plastic back plate carefully. Then refit with a wedge shape spacer between the glass & back plate (thickest portion to the top)

This will move your adjustment range down lower and hopefully get it sorted for you.

You could get the 'wedge' made up by a machine shop or use your imagination. You could even form it with silicon by clamping the glass & back plate gently together with some packers towards the top and filling the gap left.

Cheers

Brad
