They can if someone complains that you're breaking cars. Potential waste hazards, operating a business etc etc.

They may be nonsense, but they can still cause you grief.

As above, council can be arsey about it, environmental concerns etc...

Keep it tidy and a cover over and you shouldn't have a problem

I had this from my jelous twat of a neighbour when I broke an old e36 bm and put the parts into 3 of my other e36s.

The ironic thing is he is a cab driver operating from home lol,

Nobody gave a shit and I got no grief from anyone other than him.

Fuck em mate, if its your car then do as you please with it
Just make sure you don't let any fluids out the car. Collect them all.

Only trouble you might have is getting a disposal certificate for it when you way it in, my mate did the same thing and none of the scrap yards would give him one because its not a complete car, now he cant get his name off the log book and has to keep it sorn'ed.

Is the house yours or is it rented off the council?

If its council they can insist that the car is taxed and moted to be on their drive.

The V5 no longer has an option to say that you scrapped the car yourself but apparently you can write to the DVLA and tell them that you have disposed of the car. That way, you don't need to bother with SORNing it forever.

It's perfectly legitimate to say, take the floor out of a Sierra to build a rear wheel drive Escort. What are you supposed to do with the rest of the Sierra, keep it SORNed forever?

To get it scraped with the dvla you need a disposal certificate, im not saying all scrap yards are the same but the car should be complete.

That doesn't ring true
The destruction cert is no problem for a scrap shell but maybe he went to car breakers not scrap dealers as normal car breakers don't do the certs
Either way he can get off it but reporting the scrap shell stolen
But they shouldn't take the shel without change of ownership or CoD

Any scrap metal place around here will take it as that. Scrap metal. Why on earth would they care if the car was complete or not ?

In fact, why on earth would a scrap metal place expect a vehicle being scrapped to be complete ?

if it was just one and done in a reasonable time frame I wouldn't care but tbh I'd be pretty pissed if one of my neighbours permanently kept a rotton car with bits missing on their drive

because i've no desire to live in or around a scrap yard - doesn't exactly create a good impression for the neighbourhood does it?

Taken directly from gov.uk website.

If you’ve broken up the vehicle yourself

If you’ve broken up the vehicle yourself you must make a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) or continue to tax the vehicle.

You’ll have to make a SORN every year until you’ve taken it to an ATF or told DVLA you no longer have it.

Tell DVLA by sending in your V5C/3 ‘Notification of sale or transfer’ part of your V5C vehicle registration certificate or writing a letter to DVLA explaining you no longer have the vehicle.

In other words, just write to DVLA and tell them you no longer have the vehicle.

1 car hardly constitutes a scrap yard, as for impression of the neighbourhood ?

If you dont like the area, you're welcome to move.

I'm sure many could complain about living in an area where people cant park, they block roads, there are screaming children about damaging cars etc...would the council do anything about those ?

No.

No.

Totally agree.

I've always had plenty of cars in various states on my drive but
A) it's MY drive
B) I OWN my house, unlike a lot of renters in the area
C) vehicles are all sorned or insured
D) they are behind large driveway gates so not viewable anyhow.

Think bigchez has got the "I've paid a lot of money for this house and don't want the tone of the area to be brought down" syndrome.

Moving areas won't help,I live in the nice part of town and I'm not the only one messing with cars!!!!!
