The V5 no longer has an option to say that you scrapped the car yourself but apparently you can write to the DVLA and tell them that you have disposed of the car. That way, you don't need to bother with SORNing it forever.
It's perfectly legitimate to say, take the floor out of a Sierra to build a rear wheel drive Escort. What are you supposed to do with the rest of the Sierra, keep it SORNed forever?
