Default Focus ST2, trouble with boost pressure.

I was driving with my car. Then suddenly I lost boost pressure and power. DTC codes0102 , p0458, p0079, p0076, p0243,
And I looked around in the engine bay. But then I found this contact to the oil diaphragm that was broken and hanging around:Name: IMG_20130327_230117_0.jpg

Can this have something to do with the boost pressure?

yes that will cause it! What's the white stuff around it? Has it been glued in or something?

Inside the oil filter housing is a diaphragm which when it splits causes no boost, it then pressurises the crank case and can do a bit of damage. I bet all your boost is disappearing out that hole now.

Replacement is the only way to go IMO, there is oil pressure and boost pressure inside that housing so I don't think any glue will work for very long at all.

While you are at it replace the hose that goes from the housing, up behind the inlet manifold and into the cam cover. It looks like you still have the plastic hose that is very common to split and cause similar errors. Chances are it will break when you take the filter housing off. There is an updated rubber hose which is much better.

Being your from Norway, just get the standard one that fits the Volvo engine. It will be a lot cheaper and works. The new one allegedly has a better diaphragm anyway.

Not cheap but it will certainly do the job. More of a performance solution but thats the one i'd go for personally. Think there was a guide in one of the Fast Ford magazines, so technically you could make your own kit up if you wanted. It uses the same housing but modified...

Choice is always yours, but I know cars running 300 bhp and not having any issues with the standard part. Why pay more for a part that wont make any difference ?

Don't forget there is a surcharge on the standard unit that you might not get back if your part is broken. I've not had any problems with my housing and it has been quite a good level of tune for a couple of years now!

Yeah i might think to build a new performance engine in the future..

i know the std one will work fine, BUT so many st and volvos having this problem it says to me it does not work good enough..

Yeah there's nothing wrong with uprating parts. The fact the kit has been it together means there are people that want it, and its not a pointless modification.

no idea about the boost solenoid. Esp failure is usually due to the Maf failing, i had it recently and a new Maf cured it. Did you clear the codes after changing the filter housing?
