Electronic boost controller

estimated power on this spec 300ish bhp possible more
plans for her
strip and check everything for tolerance
clean paint refurbish under body and suspension steering components

Cheers guys, I need all the motivation I can get I always seem to lose interest as a once complete car turns into a pile of parts. Today I have been stone chipping the underside and inspecting for rust luckily I found none, although I wasn't happy with one of the sills where the rear q met the seem as it has been replaced and didn't look factory, out come the grinder and now I have a big hole hopefully Tomorow will see me purchase some cutting disks and welding wire if I can fine anyone open. There a good car these celicas lots of power excellent handling, only let down is how much they cost to keep new bottom arms for the front to for over 220 a side and that's shopping about, going to get my self on milling machine and knock sum up from a billet
you need deep pockets restoring jap cars. i spent over £28000 restoring and modifying an older rwd celica in the late 90's. i remember refurb brake calipers were over £600 from toyota in comparison to under £100 for my bmw e30 calipers. body panels were scarce and had to be souced from various main dealers around the world and cost me nearly 3 grand for a pair of doors, bonnet, front wings, rear quarters, cills and a rear hatch!

My pockets aren't deep that's the problem haha, so far she's not cost me much and I know what you mean about finding replacement parts I'm after new glass for the hatch as I smashed it out to prep it for paint wish I haven't now. Luckily this car doesn't need much doing in the money spending department, although some serious engine upgrades are tempting bigger turbo manifolds external gates omex ecu

i dont have any pics anymore. i did post them up on here a few years back but ive never been able to find them again . it was a 1985 rwd celica, the last of the sharp edged design before they went all rounded. took me 8 years to restore and in the end the engine couldnt match the looks so i had to give it a cosworth conversion to make it go well.....and go well it certainly did...straight into several lampposts at high speed while spinning out of control.

put a few hours in on her Sunday, something that had been bugging me was when the rear quarter was replaced a bad job had been made of joining new q to old sill. out come the angle grinder and cut away the affected area

then a template was made and transferred to steel, this was then attached using my snap on mig (its older then me and still makes a cracking bead) filed all down nicely using flap wheel and fold was recreated over the sill to look factory
a coat of stone chip was then applied as it was the only paint to hand

also stripped down the back end, off come the diff cradle which was nice and rusty

check out this weld on the diff mount

shocking

not much of a update really, stripped off all the rear suspension, diff and cradle to give the floor a coat of under seal

diff cradle looking much better minus the rust

new drop links and a fresh coat of pain on anti roll bar and i know the brake hose is going the wrong way around the suspension they need to come of for refurbish anyway.

thought i would give the inter cooler a freshen up wist i was at it.

that's about it for now just waiting on loads of parts to come from all around the world got my eye on a carbon boot tho

I had one of these a year or so back. Lovely looking car, great amount of power and the handling was fantastic. But never again, the clutch change pushed me over the edge to sell it. Plus the faff of trying to get new front wings, total joke, and some so called Celica 'specialists' should be shot.

first job was to swap out the leaky clutch slave cylinder check out the internals on the old one, the wrc's must be fitted with trd factory parts

treated the starter motor to a refurb

gave the downpipe some lagging in situ, what nightmare im itching like fook

gave the intercooler pipe work some lagging over the turbo

got abit arty with some card, gonna make a heat shield out of ally keep them temps down

notice this when the starter was out

its blue thats A good thing right

Going for around 450 safe bhp already got all the forged bits and hybrid twin scroll, engine mods ontop of what I already have will be motec management to make use of the water injection, hardpiped intercooler pipework and side feed inlet manifold. Dearest part of the build is going to be the suspension have got a rough quote from ohlins of around 4000
