Headgasket sealer ..anygood??
hello all just wondering if anyone has used any head gasket sealer and if it works or just a load of crap, my local motor factor has some in and says if it doesn't work the manufacturer gives you 100% money back guarantee
thanks

if it doesn't work and sealer falls into the engine and scores the bores will they pay out for that too?
if so, give it a go.
otherwise, skim and a fresh gasket.
it seems all too good to be true and bear in mind if it doesn't work you have to do all the work again.

I work for a motor factors in London and there's a product called steel seal does what your after cost is about Ł35 a bottle but many of my customers have bought it and yes 100% pos feedback it's still only a temp fix in my opinion but never had a cust back to say its sh*t or it failed and they needed to job properly hope this helps
Bodge fix and who'd want to rely on their vehicle to carry themselves and their family about with a bodge like a head gasket sealer I'll never know.
But then I guess most people just use it to 'fix' a car then sell it, which is a nice thought.. Not.

Im not the sort of person to stick chemicals into my engine when its not supposed to be there, if its just on a run around i'd give it ago but not on anything important, especially with headgasket problems i'd just change it.

I agree 100% most my customers are general garages and the cars are micras and corsas nothing special but think its for people that need a quick fix due to low funds

Glenn I've sold shed loads of k seal and havnt had one complaint. I wouldn't use it personally as I would rather get the job fixed properly, but it must work.
K seal is mint I bought a rover mgzr off eBay with head gasket failure and stuck a bottle in and it's still driving around a year later with it in! Also used it on a customers rad as a temp fix that was 3 months ago!
i think i read it wrong, in my head it sounded like you take the head off, and just re seal the gasket with the stuff... bit like hylomar etc lol
but clearly you just pour it in the header tank

Yeah that steel seal stuff is crap, how on earth can they give you a refund anyway, there's clearly an underlying issue?
I tried it on a saxo 1.1, didn't work so new gasket, was fine then no skimming or anything fancy, cars still going.
Good luck if you get the refund though.

lol at all the popl saying just whip the head off and do the gasket, obviously never worked on a c5 hdi before!!!!
If it was my car i would be trying every additive available and if nothing worked putting it on ebay!
Th c5 isn't a car you can "whip" the head off easily!! - The book time is around twenty hours!!!!!
