Default Galaxy/Alhambra/Sharan - common problem?

I have another thread on here regarding an issue with my car, just looking for some opinions if its a common fault, and if anyone else has experienced it, at what mileage it occured, how old the car was etc.
The fault is the driveshaft stripping its splines, resulting in no drive. I want to find out if its a common issue, the dealer is trying to avoid paying for repair using fair wear and tear, age and mileage of the car (51 reg 130k) as an excuse.
So, can anyone help?

I have heard of it before, normally the inner stub that go's into the diff. It would be decent of them to get it sorted or at least offer half of the cost

Very common issue with them, recovered loads of them and replaced loads of the drive flanges/stubs and intermediate shafts when I worked for a Seat dealer.

Dead easy job to do as well.

The trader I bought the car from has offered to cover half the cost, bloody glad they have as well, otherwise I'd be looking at nearly Ł600! They hadn't planned on getting the work done, but the garage they took it to diagnosed the problem then took it upon themselves to fix it, thinking it was a car off the forecourt and not a customers car.
