Default Piston heads

See banned advert for Toyota GT86 on piston heads i can't believe it im absolutely disgusted with the advertising standards agency when you read the article you'll understand.

I personally am going to complain ! please join me in complaining to them about there ridiculous advertising restrictions preventing manufacturers even mentioning performance or handling.

How sad has this country become

Just out of interest, have you actually seen the version of the ad that was banned?

People are getting confused and think its the ad that is shown on TV and is 60seconds long that is banned.

It's actually the long version - the 90 second one - that is shown at the cinema and on some Internet sites that has been ruled against

If you've only seen the TV version, Toyota GB have confirmed that can continue to be shown.

I had a look on the net to see the long version.

Nail on head Fil!

Banning the version of the ad that most haven't seen anyway is actually great advertising.

Plus they can continue to show the TV version of the ad.....

Your missing the point ! its not the fact the long version of the Toyota ad has been banned or that its even about a Toyota it applies to all car manufacturers, its the legislation behind it i.e the BCAP T.V code stipulating the following.

No reference to power, acceleration or handling to be made nor imply excitement or competitiveness. Are they having a laugh don't imply excitement from driving is this not a free country can't we make our own minds up or do we have to be told how to think and behave ?

Section 11 of BCAP also states advertising must not suggest that fast driving is exhilarating. Words like performance can be ambiguous. No suggestion that a competitive sport has been used in the development of increased power/speed (eg race bred engines)

LET US MAKE OUR OWN MINDS UP! not legislate against things we enjoy.

Is there only me who this is winding up

Arent these old rules thou that have been followed for long by all?

As said above, looks like a spin doctor was involved to get the ban and create the type of topic on car forums which you just have done, job done then, clever advertising!

My thoughts exactly....especially as they NEVER aired the banned version on TV for some reason.......only at the cinema and internet.......so they've got the firestorm surrounding a banned ad.....PLUS they can still show the TV version of the ad on the internet, TV and at the cinema

I think your missing the point that nobody cares, and i for one will not be emailing a complaint along with wasting my own time, and the time of whoever else has to disregard said email at the other end.

Here's an ad for a rwd 200bhp driver's car that weighs less than 1250kg, has a LSD and is nicely entertaining.
