Just bought the wife a 2005 Mondeo ST TDCI on friday, it had a few bits and bobs that were bugging me so I set today aside to sort it.
I achieved everything I set out to do minus the heated seats, both drivers and passengers seat wont heat, the switch on the dash for adjusting the heat levels is working along with the electric seat hight adjustment. Ive check the fuses and also the connection under the seat and all seem ok.
Has anyone come across this or had similar issues with heated seats?

The heater mats under the seat cover on the bases burn holes into them, or the wire can break off the heater mat itself. common fault I had a mondeo with the same issue i gave up with, Focus's do it to.
Not difficult to change, but it's time consuming
Do they cool? Press the button the other way and see if the lie lights come on and the fans kick in to eleminate the wiring

I have the same problem on MK3 2004 (facelift). I just bought it and neither drivers nor passager seat is warming up. I haven´t mesured on the fuse, but does anyone know what wires are supply and heat control under tha seat? Or even better what wire is connected to the heating pads? I don´t want to mess with the airbags........
If I`ve got it right, there is a control module under the seats that digitally reads the value from the heat control unit, right?
Thanks all

Well, shame on them for all thease seat problems. But, correct me if I`m wrong: I know that there is 15A fuse in the glovebox, 1-pole relay behind the same fuse holders and a 20A fuse in the main (engine) fusebox. Have you checked those? I have mesured them in my car and they are all ok

If it´s any help, I did the passager seat today. I can tell you that the blue and the green plug are the seat heater. And the white plug under the seat itself is connection between the upper and the lower heat pads. I discovered that one wire was broken where it´s connected the the thin (blue)heat pads wires. I can´t remember exact the colors but power to the heat pads is fed from the seat control unit (inside the seat) via the read wire. There it goes through both of the heat pads and to the white plug up in the upper part of the seat. *Please note* I´m not 100% sure but I belive that it´s black/green wire. The other two wires are heat sensor for the control unit (if you were wondering). I teared the pad apart while looking for the breakage....
So, with thease information you could at least mesure if the wires to the pads or the pads are ok. Keep in mind that they have shorted wires in some cases. If you mesure from red in the control unit to black/green in the white plug you should read at least more than 1ohm, I think around two. I forgot to mesure the upper pads, but it should be something like. Now when I´m writing this, I wonder if you shouldn´t be able to mesure volt at the black/green in the white plug. Then you don´t need to tear the seat apart, but it seems that almoust every fault around here is in the cabling from the plug under the seat and up the the heating pads.
I find it very disapointing the Ford didn´t recall thease seats because it is quite obious that the wires are not made for lying there under. The isolation is too hard and breaks easily in cold weather. Again......shame on them

One tip tho......get a GOOD pair of gloves if you peel the cover off the seat, it will hurt otherwise..........
No, I did not remove the seats from the car. I´m no expert, but I didn´t see that it would help. I just pealed the cover off carefully (just watch out for all the clips like Ollie mentioned in his thread). It´s a bit of a job, so check the cables under the seat first (see if they´re damaged). The funny thing is, that in my case, the tape around the wires did not show any marks at all but when i peeled the tape off I saw they were broken.

Ive the opposite problem on my drivers seat. It get sso warm you have to turn it off
The heater pad is around £160 for the normal seat and even more expensive for my Recaro Seats ffs. As its coming into the better weather it can stay broken until next winter
