No, I did not remove the seats from the car. Iīm no expert, but I didnīt see that it would help. I just pealed the cover off carefully (just watch out for all the clips like Ollie mentioned in his thread). Itīs a bit of a job, so check the cables under the seat first (see if theyīre damaged). The funny thing is, that in my case, the tape around the wires did not show any marks at all but when i peeled the tape off I saw they were broken.

One tip tho......get a GOOD pair of gloves if you peel the cover off the seat, it will hurt otherwise..........
