Default mk3 mondeo petrol smoking

hi all, its been a while since i've been on here and would like some guidance if anyone can help.
i have a 2002 1.8lx duratec he petrol mondeo which has deeloped quite a bad white smoke problem whilst at its mot test and the emissions reading shot through the roof.
i had prior to the mot carried out a full engine service renew oil filter and oil, air filter, fuel filter and spark plugs (setting them to 1.3mm). i have had a code reader on and it has put up codes p0301, p0302, p0303 & p0304 which relates to engine misfire on all four cylinders. i have also since carried out a compression test and all four cylinders reach around 14bar (200psi). i am looking at replacing the plug leads and coil pack initially but is there anything else i can check beforehand as usually white smoke is indicative of water getting into the combustion side of the engine.

thanks

I had 1 that puffed out white smoke and it smelt like a old steam engine.
Turned out the brake master cylinder was leaking into the servo, the servo filled up with brake fluid then the fluid as getting sucked into the engine through the vacume pipe.

thanks, i'll have a look at that as i had recently renewed the brake discs and pads all round and renewed the brake fluid using a pressure bleeder.

Hi, i've managed to have a look at the vacuum pipes and they appear to be ok and no sign of fluid. Does anyone have any more suggestions please?
thanks

yes, compression test and all four cylinders reach around 14bar (200psi). i have tonight replaced the coil pack and leads and cleaned up the new plugs. this appears to of cleared up the misfire now, just got to figure out the smoking.

had a better chance to look this morning before work, carried engine flush and cooling system flush just to make sure all ok inside, and all seemed well. But did find broken linkage to vacuum pump just behind throttle butterfly inlet, so suspecting the fault may lie in the intake side not opening the vacuum valve up.

i am now some what miffed as after repairing the vacuum actuator i have now got a misfire intermitantly back and the white / grey smoke now has blue smoke on occassion and not only when misfiring. Has anyone got any suggestions as i am now not sure which way to go. there are definitely no leaks on the cooling system as i have had the engine running for sometime today after re-antifreezing it, also there is good compression across all cylinders......

Did this problem get solved. I have a 51 plate Mk3 Mondeo Petrol which failed MOT on emmisions and was told it was probably valve stem seals. The exhaust smokes badly at around 2000 revs but engine runs fine.

I have recently finished replacing stem seals and replaced some tappets, then replaced coil pack as the engine was only running on 2 cylinders after the rebuild. All cylinders are now firing and engine running ok but engine still smoking.

I have had the Egr valve off and cleaned it. The valve seamed to move more freely and I re-installed with a new gasket. The exhaust still smokes.

I have also removed swirl plates and sealed hole, cleaned MAF sensor, cleaned PCV valve and oil separator. There was oil in the inlet manifold initially which I cleaned out.

I have been putting off doing the oil rings until now but have now got the head off and new rings ready to install.

Just looking at ways to support the block while I take the sump off.
