Default Priming gp A oil pump

I have been told i ned to prime the oil pump on ma cossie before it goes all back together, how do i do this as it will be going in the car but may not be started for some time, any help would be greatly appreciated???

Pour oil into it and spin it by hand to conpletly lube it,

Personally in the past i have used thick engine oil with slick 50 in just for priming so it sticks to the gears nice

I am a bit of a mong how do i put the oil in is it take the bottom plate off fill it up then seal it again??

Can you not just wait untill the engines in the car and remove the dizzy and prime the lot with a drill ? if its going to sit about I dont see the point in priming now.

That sounds like a plan, will that turn the pump with the cam belt in place as i want to build the whole thing before putting in the car as i dont want to be leaning over all my new paint work??

With the engine upside down and oil pump all fitted

I would remove the sump, pour oil into the pick up pipe (not loads, maybe .5 litres)
And at the same time as slowly pouring ut in, turn the engine over

ok guys thanks for the help i will get it in there upside down, someone mentioned using vaseline???
