Default ***g88*** sapph cos rebuild ***update 18/7/13

after near 4 years in storage ,i have finally moved the saff into the garage to start rebuilding it to as near as possible to how it was before she got broke by a bad man from cumbria
[luckily for me he has supplied me with some nice bits to start afresh, cheers mark]
below is the day i picked it up in stanraer, and the first day i saw it.i bought it off mark without seeing it but going by some of the reports i heard about the car i was more than happy when i finally saw it .

as most will know the car was broke,so when i bought the shell i ended up buying the engine aswell so i could keep all the numbers matching with the v5.i also bought the zoo rear beam to keep the rear planted

below is a container i had it stored in

and this is it tonight in my garage

i have waited a few year to have a place to restore the car ,and im looking forward to getting it done over the next 12 months which is my target .

all input welcome guys

Yesssssssssssssss. About Time James, been waiting for this post for quite a few years now. As you can imagine, I'll be watching this thread with the greatest interest. Be so good to see her back together again.

One of the biggest mistakes I ever made in my life selling her.

But so pleased it's gone to someone like yourself.

Regards Jim Green

hi jim,i knew it wouldnt be long before you found this thread lol.

the reason its taking so long is

1 i had nowhere to do the rebuild
2 i kept getting sidetracked buying other cars to restore

jim if it can get back to 90% of the way both yourself ,pete and max had it i will be a happy man
like i said it will take me upto a year to get it up and running so you will have to be a little patient with me lol

first job will be a detailed list of whats needed to finish it and a budget made and kept too hopefully, but luckily enough i have most of the larger items sourced jim .but at least another 2/3k probably to get it up and running .

i will get some pics up over the next few days of the floor etc
hows the clio treating you mate?

Clio is still fun, but still not quick enough, but it's rare and keeps me entertained.

Seems that I too keep getting side tracked, and needed something quicker, so i treated myself to another toy....................

1000cc of pure adrenaline that keeps me on my toes everytime I take it out.

Good luck with the rebuild, did you get the Quife box and diff with the car ?????

Looking forward to seeing more pics, just be prepared to spend lots of time washing waxoil off your hands, as I put about 10 litres in that car when it was about 2yrs old.

done a bit on the back end today

removed rear bumper and found a bit of surface rust

stripped the boot coverings out ,all looking good so far

dropped the petrol tank out ,it will need tidying but looks to be the original tank

cleaned off some of the waxoil from the righthand chasis rail and all is mint .im not going to do anything with the floor except remove the waxoil and renew [possibly]
