some say 300bhp or relative torque more to the point.
i have run 23psi through a 1.8 zvh from a 4wd cos turbo and didn't damage rods after years of abuse.

 

O as One of my rods bent had water go in oil too

 

water in oil, are you sure the head gasket wasn't on it's way out and hydro locked the engine on one cylinder and bent the rod that way?
rod failure on it's own isn't likely to damage the water jacket unless the rod goes through the block or mangles the head gasket if the piston cracks and falls apart.

 

The head gasket only did 2500 k and was a felpro wen it went it bent and smashed a bit of the piston cylinder at bottom

 

mines running 20 psi and close to 300bhp, and had lots of abuse with no ishues. only revs to 6.5 k tho
