Default Fiesta Mk1 Project 'White Devil'

Firstly let me introduce myself, My name is Arron and im 24 and my job is a Fork Lift Truck Engineer..

I have owned a couple of Fords up to now starting with my Sierra Cosworth which was previously owned by my cousin Gaz. It was my first taste of ford blood when he let me drive it when i was 17. ever since that day i wanted it off him and eventually i got my hands on her.. she was running a t34 with back cut blades and mar-m shaft and anti-lag, stage 3... all work carried out by Motorsport developments... Gaz coilovers and comps... she was a beauty,

After my cossy i then decided to buy my cousions focus rs off him as he needed cash to buy a house, she was a graham goode built 320bhp 454ftlb torque monster nick named lucifer...!

Unfortunatly i had to sell them both due to running costs, however my circumstances have changed for the better and now have the money for a project...

So here goes, i came about my mk1 fiesta due to a very kind neighbour knocking at my parents front door asking if i would like to have his unfinished mk1 fiesta as he no longer had the time or the space to complete restoring it... i asked him how much he wanted and he told me i can have it all for nothing!! bonus!

this was a offer i could not refuse! so with a huge smile and firm hand shake we organised me picking it up, however i have other plans in mind for this White mk1!!

into my garage it went and were it stayed for a good 6 months with me not touching a single thing up untill now!! after checking the shell over i was please to find the only rust was a small bit of surface rust..

First thing was first to remove engine and strip out engine bay as above...

After alot of thinking and searching the web at other mk1 fiesta projects i decided to buy myself a st170 engine, gearbox, engine loom, ecu, full dash loom and driveshafts for Ł500...

i then began to fit the engine with the help of other project forums as referance to squeeze this engine into tht small space in front of me.

Thanks Richie look forwars to seeing what you do to your series one! Ive been looking around at what people have done to the st170 and im leaning towards GSXr/hayabusa throttle boddies running with mega jolt/squirt management... The only thing i dunno what to do about it wheather to keep vvt or not? Heard engine power is limited to around 200bhp... Do you know what is best route to take?? Cheers

Thanks for the comments guys, just anouther quick update to show how close things are inside that engine bay.

I have just had to cut the RH chassis Leg drastically to allow for engine pulleys to not catch/rub on and part of the Chassis.

The black marker outline is my next cut to allow for the Standard engine mount to sit at the right height to the engine.

Not much room for error lol but its definatly a snug fit!

Even the drive shafts line up so nicely, saves me alot of work! very happy with how things are lineing up!

After alot of movement and small tweaking i am happy with how the engine is lineing up, time to get the welder out and cut the engine mounts and re-enforce the chassis leg with 3mm steel, and begin to fabricate a gearbox mount... hopeing to be able to use a std gearbox mont too.

hope to have more updates this weekend!

Great stuff. The St 170 engine is perfect for the for the light Fiesta even with "only 200bhp" it should be quick.
