Default My 98 ST24 clean up project / make it my own

Ok well i bought this car in april with 6 months mot 7 months tax 84k miles and a full tank of petrol for the grand sum of £500

I was actually looking for an st200 as i'd never had one but decided i'd settle for another 24 (had 2 before this a few years ago) but it had to look right be tidy and be in the right colour however i couldnt decide what was the "right" colour lol

Anyway i saw this 15 miles away in nottingham on ebay and as soon as i saw the pictures i had to have it so i contacted the seller and hours later iwas there and the deal was done.

the car had some minor issues being;

The drivers seat back had snapped

the wheels looked like they'd been painted with hammered finish hammerite lol

very minor bubbling on rear arches and iffy paint on the morretes,

Anyway i'll put some pics of the car up as i got it before i do anymore typing just to keep you all awake lol

Ok so thats the only pic i seem to have of the car when i bought it,

The keen amongst you should see a few little changes

I added a sunstrip the next day (not to everyones taste i know) I've had them for so long now i cant be without one lol,

The wheels have changed for a set identical that i bought in better condition with good tyres for £20 off a mate,

Then i got the new ones painted black by a mate and gave him my old ones for doing it for me,

Then i drove to rochdale to pick up some rare half leather recaro's i won on good old ebay for £170 and fitted them as soon as i got back that day,

Ill have to get pics of the interior and engine bay as i dont seem to have any which is odd im sure i did,

Anyway then came the bodywork i swear the car had not seen polish in a very long time the paint felt like sandpaper and was looking very dull,

Before pic at the top,

So me being the fool i am i wet flatted the entire car with 2000 grit and hit it with the g3

This took me 7 hours alone and it wasnt perfect but much much better especially after the several coats of polish and wax it recieved for the next 2 days,

Now ill upload the pics i have on photobucket and i'll gradually add others once i get them onto pb from my i phone

These are the day before fordfair 2012 Also had windows tinted the week before ff

Tinted the rear lights and removed the chrome boot handle for a colour coded one

The pf stand at fordfair

Have to admit it was my 1st time i have been on a stand and iwas really excited it something ive always wanted to do lol

These are all i have for now i've got loads more on my phone including the interior and engine bay and a load of st200 bits in my shed that im hoping to fit tomorrow all being well,

Thanks for looking and hope i've not bored you to much its hard writing the start of a project thread without droning on lol

More updaes soon

Fuckin piece of shit! Buy this if you want nick. Lewis I can't get the bastard thing to run properly since putting the 200 inlet on :-( I've got it running much better after work tonight but it's still not quite right. Got a throttle cable on order from ford so gonna fit that tomorrow and see how it runs / drives if it's still not right I'm gonna let my mate have a look at it he's brilliant with irritating problems and cars on general. I nearly threw the ratchet at the windscreen tonight it pissed me off that much :-(

As much as I would love to I couldnt buy it off you. I miss the ST but dont miss the running costs. I did Leeds and back (to Scunthorpe) around 90 mile round trip, £45! That made me get rid after 2 and a half years of Mondeo ST ownership.
Run an Astra Coupe (for the mrs) now as a daily, commute in a 206 diesel and my RS Turbo is coming back out end of the month

Lol thanks for all the comments it's running sweet as now it's was the throttle body gasket at fault put a new one on last night along with a 200 throttle cable and she's all good, nick dunno what that works out at but I got 420 miles to a 60 litre tank and that includes a fair bit of heavy foot lol

Lol no mate its spot on although getting grip is becoming an issue in 1st and 2nd when hooning around and when it's wet it's just a fuckin handful lol I've never had one this quick and I've had 3

It's a bit smoky at times for some odd reason and not always bad it's strange but it pulls so well I don't wanna change the engine or pull it apart lol

We'll see how it goes I'm going for stainless tubilar manifolds at the end of the year aswell then I'm thinking about getting it on the rollers,

What do ya think about setting up a notts / Derbys rolling road day at noble or something? Was gonna ask you about it?
