Smile soooo i'm thinking about buying a mk7 fiesta.....

i feel the time is right to buy a new mk7 fiesta 'metal' edition. i am just wondering what ppl think of the new fiestas and if they know what the common faults are? (not that am saying ford make faulty cars :P)

reason i wana spend so much on a fiesta is that i want a car that will last me a few years (local jennings ford offer 5 year warranty at the min on all new fords) and something decent on fuel and insurance and all the rest of that boring stuff. this will leave my go faster side committed to a track project in the future.

http://www.ford.co.uk/Cars/Fiesta/Fi...tal-Individual

so i was wondering what horror story's have ppl heard about the mk7 fiesta?

i had one as a rental in spain last week, being hot we had the aircon on which ment we couldnt then go uphill, next time i did the hill with the aircon off ans it still wasnt that great

my summary would be 1.2 is too under powered and not that great on fuel (was in ltr/km so i dunno exactly) i like the 'see you to your door' lights
weirdly it looked covered in chips but they all came off so i expect they take a bit of a hit ok
boot too a big case with a small hand luggage one next to it with plenty of spare space
i see no need to a button to pop the boot off the remote when you still need to lift it (so its not saving you hands getting mucky or anything)

i sat it in alot after swimming but the seat still dried mint which was handy
usb and aux jack were good for plugging in my little sony thing
night time light swere terrible, im used to 2000 scenic lamps but were pretty bad, going up the mountain/hill/urbaniation was tricky on tight corners at night

i doubt all that helps, im more of a drive a grands worth of car and leave the other 9k in the bank, kinda guy

My 2010 zetec s had a knocking noise when turning the steering wheel whilst the car was stationary. It had to have a new universal joint in the steering column at 19000 miles.

Well that's what dealership said they did to fix the problem.

I don't know if it's a common fault.

It's not 60HP, the 1.25 is 75HP, and to be technical it now has VVT MK7 Fiesta, which is a "claimed" 80HP.

People say about being slow, but you can't expect anything else from this kind of car, barring the sporting models, what else do you honestly expect, especially thanks to cars being heavier than ever before!

The remote boot release has been around for ages, and imo it's quite a nice feature, saves you having to put the key in and open it.

yeah but with the car unlocked you press the button on the handle anyways
i can see the point if it lifts when popped but as it doesnt you still put you hand over the button to lift the boot

On the Focus I find it useful as that has no handle, but imo it's still useful as sometimes if you want to go to the boot and the car is locked you can release it and then just shut the boot and walk away (ok I know unlocking/locking is no big deal)

Correct, I actually have just looked this up as I coulden't believe it , so in other words it has the same power as a Smart car, considering it had 75HP in the older Fezza's, (In actual fact it was once 90HP but Ford has to detune it for emissions reasons) I don't see who came up with the idea of making a heavier car less powerful.

thanks for the info guys, on the power front i will be having the newest 1.6 ti-vct which is over the 130hp mark, this should be enough as it only needs to pull me to work everyday and the odd camping in the lakes.

Its a TSB for the knocking needs more grease in the shaft. Sometimes it doesn't sure it and a new shaft is needed. Easy simple job. Nothing major.

We bought the misses a mk7 zetec s the other year, they are a nice roomy solid feeling car, I find it great to drive and ours has done 48k and no faults, cheap to run and service.
