Default Whats my saph cos worth, in 3 minds whats to do?? NOW WITH SERVICE BOOK INFO

Hi, I'm thinking of selling my cosi and mk1 fiesta to treat myself to a bigger hp saph, but not sure to sell mine or break it, or just sell the fiesta and buy a decent power?? or a s1/s2

the car its self: is crystal blue, whats done 102,000 ish miles, tho the clocks have been reset when engine had a freshen up, now on about 1000 miles, its full stamped service history, running stage1, so got the normal stuff, this car as never been welded and don't really need any, its got 2 bits of rust one on bottom of door and one bit bottom of wheel arch as shown in pics, tho the car has had some paint over the years, and it looks like water as got in the paint looks like air bubbles but its only on the two passenger doors, as it happens thats where the rust is one one door, so only really needs 2 doors and arch doing, got few other little marks and scrape on back bumper as in pic. its got m.o.t till end of march 2013 and tax end of sept. thats quick spec.

so good points
S/S exhaust
most of the car is poly bushed
drilled/grooved discs
adjustable konis all round
puny air filter lol
group A head gasket/bolts
reliable stage 1
never been welded
stamped service history

bad bits
2 bits of rust
2 doors got bubbles in paint
little run under spoiler
engine bay is black, as when the engine was out the owner was going to paint whole car black, but take it the project got sold on before finished

I no you don't get much for £3500 but can get some think ok for £4500 £5000 so not really sure where mine sits??? the car will be sold with lattice wheels too, but for now only got pics with rs7 as thats all whats been on their, never fitted the lattice ones.

cheers for looking and any advice from the chaps what know the score be appreciated, prob missed loads out and fill it in if i have. only thing I'm worried about is buying one for loads of money then welding it up each year lol.

the OP asked for opinions on what his car is worth so i am by no means slating this but its never worth 5k, people overvalue saffs all the time.

its a stage 1, presumably with t3 turbo and yellows? other than the wheels its pretty much a bog standard cossie with no go faster bits

the ony way you'll get 5k is if you find someone specifically wanting a crystal blue one IMO. Like i said, i'm not here to slate the lads cars as other than the rust, it looks a clean one

Cheers for the replys its around ish the sort of figure i was guessing about 3900 4100 about 4500 if i left the wheels, engine bay lets it down, but bloody solid car, i agree it wont be worth anywhere nr 5k, as that money you can get a nice stage 3 with nice looking bay, bit like the grey one in the for sale section, tho it dont say its had any welding or not, mine aint as good as that power and look wise, all i need now is a buyer.

Mate you are better off keeping it IMHO and upping the power saps that clean are getting harder to find now

That car is a real gem a really nice colour if I had 4k spare I would buy that and put back to std do the body work and put away for a few years

Thanks i no theirs not many whats not seen the welder, just power and engine bay lets it down, i don't have alot of money, its cheaper to sell mine and buy one whats done, i fancy around 360 390bhp and some shinny stuff under the hood, Ive been quoted 4-500 to have door and arch repaired that side painted and bay if i strip it, tho i prob prefer to source another door what not got no rot then repair mine. just looking through the service book its well maintained.

the car was brought in 30/04/88 at W HAROLD PERY LTD

i have just sold a accident damaged (unregistered) saph 4x4 for £3850. if i had stripped car it would have been worth more as i have no doubt yours would. surely you would be looking around £4k for car.

I think you are very realistic at the prices you say.
That would defo be priced to sell.
Good luck with the sale

i would keep yours mate and its a solid shell - chances are the next one you get will need more work than yours.

I would just change the injectors, turbo, intercooler and remap yours to 360bhp - the standard internals can take it fine

its my old saff too lol, unfortunately the mate i bought it off lost most of the history. this really is a good solid car. when i bought it off my mate it was sat on blocks with no wheels, no suspension, half the engine missing ,no bonnet, no exhaust etc. my mate painted engine bay black as he was going to do a full respray on it but didnt get round to it. the car underneath is in real good nick and can confirm its not been welded.i spent alot of money sourcing the parts it needed to make it road worthy and legal again. but it was worth it due to condition of the shell.
I swapped this car for the s2 in my sig(43,000 mile) the saff was a good stage 3 spec back then with lots of shiney and carbon goodies in the engine bay although they all seem to have gone now.
my advice is to keep it mark, get bodywork tidied up and engine bay painted as lots off people love crystal blue saffs. its only going to go up in value.

well it may be looking I'm keeping her at this min, might be doing a deal, but if that falls through, and my mk1 fiesta not sold i keep it bit longer at least lol, have got someone onit for cash bit its bit lower then hat i want, so i will need to think about really.

Yh when i brought the car it had no history, but I tried my luck finding past owners and rick bartlett managed to go back to his previous owner on it, and found one folder which was the service book and got stack of receipts from dagenham ford service parts etc etc, so big thanks for that pal. with pictures you sent me when you owned her, all the best bits of engine bay have been took off.

I put car up like this to see what it was worth, as dint want to over price it and not sell nor sell it cheap and cut myself short, But yh £4k is about what I'm after, I need to change the wheels then do a proba advert, so people can see what their getting.

Ah ok, I maybe read the above wrong. I thought he offered the £3800 you had been offered but hadn't seen the cash for yet.

I'm not interested in the car btw, I have enough of them lol. I know Rog and was just wondering if he'd bought it.

yh thats what i thought originally when i see the post, but im pm is 3.5k, we still in negations lol, im not desperate to sell, as said i can get bay and side painted for less then a grand, then can get t34 stage 3 set ups grand ish, so for 2 grand i could get it all sorted with half decent power. I can see your from same area ish so gathered you was only asking you pal about, that was my impression anyway.
