Yeah you'd get a decent Westfield for that. Wouldn't be the highest spec, probably a crossflow and possibly in need of a little updating, but would be a nice useable and improbable base. This would have been a very good buy. Sold now, but still a good example of what I'd be aiming for for that kind of money.

Plenty of chance of getting something for 4k as nothing is selling. Tried selling my MK Indy a couple of times but no one has cash to spend on a car to use a few days a tear it seems. If you don't mind going for something other than a Westfield you could pick up a decent zetec engined 7 rep for 4k.

you could quite easily get a decent 7 clone at that money but it will most likely have a older engine such as a pinto or crossflow or something newer but not much used.
tbh they still go really well with even a mild tuned pinto and you could always upgrade the engine at a later date.

i would try a few out for size the original locost book plan built cars are very tight for people over 6FT and with wide hips

hoping mine will hit the road very soon after 18 months of tinkering they really are the project that's never finished

If you know ford parts for for a westie (Westfield). Quick built time. Can even throw a BOB or YB in it easy. Study the price list and minous lots for a cheap build. Go for the SV kit & good luck!

I'm 6'2" and the wrong side of 16st but don't find it a problem in my Indy. Caterhams are a bit on the small side but most kits now are built with the fat bloke in mind.

Fat people are the problem, they need a wide body.

I'm 6'3" and never had an issue. I've never had an issue in any car once in, but sometimes getting into cars can be a pain, but once you're in it's fine. Not a problem with one of these though as there's no doors.

Im on my second, had a westfield widebody with a 165hp pinto and now got another widebody with a 180hp vauxhall redtop. Im about 6ft and 14st and find it snug in mine, i couldnt drive a normal body one i just wouldnt fit lol. They go well but if your used to quick cars id say you want one with at least this kind of power really, id like more in mine but its good as it is. I personally think you'l struggle to find one with a decent engine and spec for your budget but it all depends what you want personally i guess, and also who makes the kit, the quality can vary massively from what ive seen. Overall there fantastic cars though and so much fun, you'l never have a boring drive in one!
