Fiesta xr2i timing belt issue
Hi there, im currently doing a timing belt on a 92 fiesta xr2i, its the 1800 zetec. Having a bit of trouble with it, i got cylyinder one to tdc and made sure the cams and crank pully were more or less lined up. I then removed the old belt, locked the cam shafts in place with the tool and made sure the crank pulley was right on the factory marks. I fitted the new belt and turned it over by hand just to see if it all lined up after a few turns.. It did. I put it all back together, started the car and it instantly started to knock in the top end. I pulled it all apart again checked all the marks and it was ever so slightly out(not even 1 tooth on the camshaft) so i re timed it all up, turned it over by hand and nothing was catching, turned it over on the key with out the plugs and it all sounded ok. Put it all back, started it up, and its still knocking. Ive done a compression test and its all good and even across the cylinders. Ive looked down the plug holes for marks on the pistons and theres nothing. All the timing marks are still lined up.. Any suggestions? Would be really appriciated
Thanks
Patrick
