Anyone had one or got one, standard or mapped?
What's it like day to day for reliability, mpg, performance, running costs and such? Been offered one for my Focus which is very tempting. It's a V-reg, 100k miles, silver with black heated leather, black wheels and rear lip removed. Has receipts and history with it and 6month or so T&T. I know my vag cars well having owned a remapped diesel 25th Anni Golf and remapped Golf GT TDi 150 previously.

My mate bought one with 140k on it full history.
Sounded great and went just as well as my Leon cupra r 225.
Not sure about mapping though as ours were both standard but plenty of power for every day use think he was getting between 33 -35 mpg out of his.

My mates got one on the same plate. Revo mapped. Never betters 22mpg lol.
Had all sorts of problems with clutches, bushes, drop links, dash clocks failing, block cracked abound the engine mount area ?
Cheap now tho. Quite fancy one my self.

Will eat the miles and still drive nicely. Make sure teh oil changes have been kept up or the engine may suffer with sludging which wil kill it. The rear lip was added for stability after a few owners were killed so I would be very inclined to put it back on again. Watch the temp gauge as the water pump impellor can crack and stop circulating water. Also watch for oil in the coolant system, this is not usually the headgasket but the oil cooler which is a cheap and very easy fix.
You will want a remap though as the extra weight and complexities of the 4x4 seems to numb them down. A friends remapped 225 is still on the original clutch at almost 180k miles

Had a standard one from new for nearly 5 years and found it a great car, not the fastest but not the slowest, pretty good fun to drive, with some of the normal Audi numbness. Only prob was a indicator stalk failing, but obviously they are older cars.
I will be looking for another soonish for a project I think.

I sold my standard 52 plate TT 225 a year ago with 83K on the clock, I owned it for 2 1/2 years, put about 20K miles on it and all it needed in that time was some tyres, a drop link and timing belt/water pump. Nice car to drive, very comfortable, not the fastest car out there but poker enough to make decent progress. Around the town I averaged 24-26mpg and on a run I'd get 30-32mpg, was possible to get it up to 35mpg if you drove like a granny.
