Default mk1 focus rs build

hia guys.

im not on here much but this is the place i read most of the rebuilds at so thought id share mine

iv had the car for 4 years now and always wanted to build something differant with it.

heres the build so far

thought id start a thread documenting the progress of my car.

for those who do not already know the plan is to strip to almost a bare shell and then have the custom cages fia spec cage fitted and all resprayed inside.
then refit anything thats needed(not alot)lol.

the cage is being fitted by bob at bob dowen rally prep.he mainly preps grp4 mk1 and mk1 escorts but im sure hes going to do a lovely job on the focus.

the reason for this?????purely because this is what i like and even with the weight of the cage im confidenrt that there will still be a healthy amount of wieght saved in all the right areas.

there will be many changes to the car that i have in mind and a few ideas brewing aswell.

well i done a tad more on car today (sowly getting there) and took a few snaps of how 1685 looks at the moment.it looks in a bit of a mess at the moment mind.lol.

well this is when i first started takeing evrything out in order for it to be sent away for cage fitting.

SMALL UPDATE.

been to see car.work has started, not alot done as bob has been collecting shells from all over the country.

glass is out and main hoop in place and the drivers side main over head bar in place.

some pics....not many as i was in a rush but next week full cage should be tacked in so ill get some more then.

more work has been added aswell.

a custon front crash bar will be made closely resembling the wrc titanium item.
and a heated windscreen is now going back in to replace the orig item.
this means i eather dont require a small heater to be fitted or one can be added but without the hassle of routing duct to the screen.

thats all for now guys.

they are custom front triangulation too.harness bars are the only thing left now.theyv been left out as the ones that come with cage dont really fit and theyr too high up the cage so bobs makeing some up monday.

also iv learnt that to do this properly i need to take this to a proper bare shell.its pointless trying to work around things ie loom and abs pump etc.so all that is now being removed.

id like to replace this with new managment and greatly reduced loom but ill wait till i get to that stage.lol.

almost every panel seam in the engine bay is being stitch welded aswell inc the strut tops.

im seriously over the moon with the work that the guys at bob dowen rally prep are doing.
