Shawspeed do some good cams if you're looking for power, will need to be fitted with a full exhaust, HD bottom end bolts and a map though.

HD bottom end bolts allow you to safely raise the rev limit over standard, needed with decent cams. Also saying 'piper are the best' is a very broad and pointless statement, due to them making different spec cams. Shawspeed cams are made by piper though, to shawspeeds spec. Also avoid Pumabuild, they're cowboys!

What sort of power are you looking for firstly?

After using Pumabuild a lot and having experience of shawspeed, I know that John @Shawspeed knows far more about the sigma engines than Alan does.

Alan Farmer is a recovery truck driver who spotted a niche, took a risk on setting up a business and it paid off, fair play, but he's not a talented engineer IMO, heis someone who learns on the job. Some of the bespoke work i've seen from there has been pretty 'industrial' to describe it politely.
Although I will say the work I had done was always decent although it was just routine stuff

John @shawspeed knows these engines better than anybody IME

I think for over 160bhp you're going to have to someething about the inlet manifold, like change it for bodies, its hard to get much more than 150 from the standard one

for a cheap power increase,

if youve got a tape code ecu, get it reflashed to the frp map ( bloke on here does it, and some one on zsoc can do em to ) this raises rev limit slightly and removes first gear tourque limiter and will allow you to run frp ( ford racing puma ) cams,

this with your exhaust ect will give 145 ish bhp, after that, id be more tempted to go bak to a 1.6 as there is more cam choice and throttle bodies, or bin the engine and go 2.0

im in the same situation as you, although mine has the frp cams and remap, goes alright, quite good on fuel still but would benifit from the frp inlet, but like fuck am i paying 600 quid to gain 8 ish bhp lol
