Default bp ultimate-or is it?!lol

i was queing up for fuel at my local bp and ONE TANKER came to fill up. My question does the tanker carry all 3 types of fuel, ultimate unleaded and diesel or just one.

The reason i ask is because i no longer notice any difference when using ultimate in my saph compared to regular unleaded. How do we know that when we fill up with ultimate it is actualy ultimate??

Cheers

well if your car is mapped for ultimate and you use normal, i doubt it'd last long if you drive it hard....

Hope you don't nail it on Unleaded, the after affects are probably why you think it's no different

i drive like a grandad on sunday mate haha. But im sure it was mapped on ultimate but got no proof of this. Its been fine for 8years using a mixture of the two. What effects does it have if i put normal in when its set up for ultimate? And if its set up for normal will there be any gains from filling up with ultimate?

If its setup on unleaded, you won't see the most of the gains available by using super unleaded. However, if it's mapped hard on super unleaded, and you use just unleaded, detonation will occur much earlier. I had an engine at work that was mapped hard on 98 RON, we put it on 95RON and had to completely remap it, as it was detting everywhere above 40/50% load. Which could easily represent you driving up a hill. And if you come on boost, chances are even higher!

As said though, depends what fuel it was mapped on, and how hard it's mapped. I know for 10p/litre I'd not be risking it!

The good news however, is detonation is the sound of fuel economy

^^^ But fair to say if not boosting like a tit everywhere and just from A to B, then Unleaded won't have as drastic an effect as putting Diesel in your Cossie Needs must unfortunately if there's no Super

Diesel definately won't help!

If it was me I'd carry a pack of octange booster in the boot, so if you do have to fill up with Unleaded you can put that in

i used to work for Fruehauf who made most of the aluminium tankers in this country at one stage and can definitely confirm that the tanks are compartmentalised, as well as being baffled to prevent surge of 30,000 litres of fuel sloshing about around roundabouts

you'd think trading standards might have something to say if they were selling normal as super

Yes you do, and yeah it will because you won't hear it. Until you get a massive misfire and it's game over

Same base fuel, different additive mix when filling tanks at the station. Hence one tanker can deliver to different branded petrol stations

Tankers are compartmentalised to prevent surge

In that case it must be mapped on normal unleaded, or conservitavely mapped on SUL, because of people thinking "ah feck it, I'll save a couple of quid!"

haha prob james. It was done by power engineering but holds at 15psi for stage 1 and is quite aggresive for a stage 1. Next year is going to bring big numbers!

Not on unleaded it isn't...next year when your New turbo is mapped... You should stick to the correct fuel.

Are you serious?

He says not unleaded.

I'll give you a free tip... it won't be diesel.

Which fuel do you think might be ok?

PS What pikey doesn't have their car checked/mapped/setup in 8 years?

I even have my corsa 1.0 litre checked annualy. Just to ensure I can go about smoking veyrons off the line beause it's a lighter car.

They have compartments for multi drop loads of different product at same or different locations, not to act as baffles or prevent surge, each (pot) will typically only contain 5 to 8 thousand litres.

Baffles are used in single compartment tankers usually acid or GP as with potentially upto 36000lts in one place surge is a massive problem, particually if its only part loaded

Wrong ! The additive required for PU50 , DERV, Super UNL and Super DRV is injected on the loading racks at the oil terminal at the time of loading the tanker .

And I guarantee , that when tankers do deliver to different petrol stations (and believe me when I say its rare as fuck) they have their own specific tanks to deliver into .

For example , I work for Texaco , now the garage we deliver to other than our own sites are Newport Pagnell Services North and South which are Shell branded BUT ! We do not put our fuel in tanks that are labelled Shell only the ones labelled Texaco !
